The Bronx rodeo where a bull rider was injured after being trampled upon failed to obtain the necessary permit to hold such an event, according to a report.
Organizers behind Sunday’s event at Baychester didn’t receive a permit from the New York City Health Department prior to the rodeo taking place, WABC reported.
In New York City, permits for rodeos are issued by the city’s Commissioner of Health.
The “Rodeo Tierra Caliente” event, which the NYPD said was sanctioned, saw a 25-year-old man injured when he was bucked off the animal.
He was bounced around until he was thrown off the back of the animal – before being trampled and dragged across the dirt, shocking video seen by The Post shows.
Horrified witnesses rushed to help the injured rider – and they said he appeared to be briefly unconscious and was bleeding.
“He was hit pretty hard. He was doing his thing on the bull, but he got caught up in the spins, man, and he got hit on top, threw down, stepped on, got unconscious,” fellow bull rider Gato said.
Off-duty Brooklyn EMT Melanie Ayala told News12 that an announcer urged patrons to stop recording.
The bull rider was taken to the Jacobi Medical Center and is expected to make a full recovery. The animal was also secured.
Rodeo Tierra Caliente describes itself as the number one company for Mexican-style rodeos throughout the US.
