Boston Blue’s Mika Amonsen weighed in on the chances of Tony Terraciano, reprising his role as Donnie Wahlberg‘s onscreen son after his brother, Andrew Terraciano, was recast.

During an exclusive interview with Us Weekly, Amonsen shared his hopes for who could play his character Sean’s brother, Jack, saying, “I’d love to see Andrew’s older brother come into it. Of all people — honestly — that idea has been tossed around. Whether that’s going to happen or not, I’m not sure.”

He continued: “But if I could choose anybody, it would be him. And if he’s open to it, that would be incredible. We can make it happen. I’m hopeful.”

Blue Bloods, which premiered in 2010, followed the lives of the Reagan family, many of whom worked for the NYPD under the leadership of NYC police commissioner Frank Reagan (Tom Selleck). Frank’s father, Henry Reagan (Len Cariou), was also central to the show alongside Frank’s children: daughter Erin Reagan (Bridget Moynahan) and sons Danny (Wahlberg) and Jamie Reagan (Will Estes).

Wahlberg portrayed Frank’s eldest son and a fellow police detective who was previously married to Linda Rose Reagan (Amy Carlson), with whom he shared sons Jack (Tony) and Sean (Andrew), before her death.

Viewers saw Jack and Sean grow up in front of their eyes, so imagine their surprise when CBS ordered the Boston Blue spinoff, which focused on Danny’s relationship with his youngest — with a twist. Before Blue Bloods premiered in October 2025, the role of Sean was recast with newcomer Amonsen.

“I had somebody call me — actually the day that I was graduating — and they had spoken to my mom and she called me [crying]. They were like, ‘They might be looking for a different Sean,’” Andrew exclusively told Us in December 2025 about the onscreen change. “Shortly after we got the news, Donnie called me. It was a really beautiful moment of getting to hear from an old friend but also somebody that you respect so much and have learned so much from.”

Andrew expressed gratitude for his time on Blue Bloods.

“It’s beautiful because you’ll always remember every single line and every day that you had the opportunity to be that character,” he shared about his time on the hit CBS series. “It doesn’t mean for even a second that somebody else can’t go and do something beautiful with it.”

Andrew continued: “I got the joy of playing Sean, and I got to send him off into the world. Now somebody else gets that joy. We’re both getting to show what we do and then send Sean off into the world.”

Amonsen called weathering the backlash after the recast the “most challenging” part of the gig.

“That initial pressure from fans and making sure that I represented Sean in a way that Andrew [Terraciano] would appreciate, fans would appreciate and have them understand that I wasn’t just coming into this creating whatever I wanted [was hard],” Amonsen shared with Us about playing Boston Blue’s version of Sean.

Amonsen was grateful for the support he received.

“It’s been reciprocated well and I’m happy about that. But I think that that was the biggest challenge. At this point, I’ve slipped into comfortability,” he noted. “I don’t feel an overly large amount of stress and pressure. Donnie has done a great job of making me feel super comfortable with the entire experience. Fans seem to really enjoy it, and I don’t feel as intimidated as I did going into it. It’s probably just a growth thing.”

Boston Blue airs on CBS Fridays at 10 p.m. ET.
