Ben Affleck adores the children he shares with ex Jennifer Garner.
“I could not be more proud of my children, I can’t even tell you,” the actor-producer gushed to Access Hollywood at the Monday, October 6 premiere of Kiss of the Spider Woman in New York City.
When asked about his eldest daughter, Violet, he replied, “She takes after her mom. She’s spectacular. And I’m very lucky that I got a great partner and we’ve got great kids. It’s the joy of my life, and I’m just very, very lucky. It makes me happy every day.”
Affleck and Garner, both 53, tied the knot in 2005, and later welcomed Violet, 19, Fin, 16, and Samuel, 13. The couple separated in 2015 and finalized their divorce three years later. Affleck rekindled his romance with Jennifer Lopez in 2021, marrying her the following year. In August 2024, Lopez, 56, filed to divorce Affleck after two years of marriage.
On Monday, Affleck and Lopez reunited on the red carpet to celebrate Kiss of the Spider Woman, in which she stars. The film, produced by Affleck’s production company, Artist’s Equity, hits theaters Friday, October 10.
While speaking to Extra, Affleck declared that his former wife is “amazing” in the movie and praised her work ethic, saying that she gave “her all” to the role of Hollywood starlet Ingrid Luna in the adaptation of the 1993 Broadway musical.
“She worked enormously hard,” he said. “You get to see, like, all of her many gifts, she’s somebody that grew up watching, you know, classic musicals.”
As for Violet, now a college freshman, she’s paving her own path in the spotlight as a public health advocate. In September, she delivered a speech in support of mask mandates at the United Nations, addressing the importance of clean air and masking to prevent the transmission of long Covid.
Garner and Violet have maintained a strong mother-daughter bond through the years. While the Affleck children have remained largely out of the spotlight, Violet was present when Garner got a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and for a public visit to the White House in 2022.
Affleck and Garner are “committed to doing the best they can” for the sake of their kids, a source exclusively told Us Weekly in 2020. “It’s always a work in progress. … If they have differences, they keep it to themselves and don’t let it have an impact,” the insider added. “They always put on happy faces for the kids and put their well-being first.”
