Below Deck Mediterranean‘s Joe Bradley explained why Luke Brumer soiling Nathan Gallagher‘s goes beyond a hygiene issue into a possible contract breach.

“It really does come down to a safety hazard and [an issue] with cleanliness and hygiene,” Joe exclusively told Us Weekly. “Because it’s literally in a contract.”

Joe noted that it “is possible for someone to get fired” for that, adding, “In terms of what you sign in your contract and hygiene purposes, it is possible. Is he going to? I can’t say. But it has happened in the past. I hope not, though, but it depends how far you take it.”

Earlier in the season, Luke hooked up with Genevieve Lillie in his and Nathan’s shared cabin. The next morning, the couple moved down to Nathan’s bunk — and Luke finished in his boss’ sheets. While there was discussion about washing Nathan’s linens, the sheets never made it to the laundry room, and the bosun slept in the bed for multiple nights without knowing the situation.

“Unfortunately, that’s how it is. But then it could go down to Nathan’s management style. If you can just let it roll off your shoulders and go, ‘Listen, mate, I’m glad that you’d have fun in my bed. You should have just washed the sheets,’” Joe suggested. “It’s [a safety issue] due to the bodily fluids.”

Luke has also not had it easy due to his love triangle with Gen and Joy Lefaucheur. He attempted to tell Gen that he wasn’t interested in her after their hookup, but all she heard was that he would stop pursuing Joy.

While speaking to Us, Joe shared the advice he would give Luke.

“Don’t do it. I’ve lived it not once, but twice before. If I could tell you right now, I would say don’t do it, It’s not worth it,” he quipped.

As Below Deck Med viewers know quite well, Joe was entangled in a love triangle in season 9 with Elena Dubaich and Bri Muller. He later found himself in trouble during season 10 due to his connections with both Kizzi Kitchener and Victoria SanJuan, with the latter leading to Nathan cutting ties with Joe because of how he handled the situation.

“I’ve hurt people in the past and it’s really hurting me. I might not show it, but it does hurt me,” Joe told Us. “I don’t want to hear people saying that I disrespect women and I hate women. The best people in my life are my mom, my grandmother and my little sister.”

Joe was grateful to see the tide turn after his return this season, saying, “I have noticed a few DMs where people are saying they’ve noticed a bit of a change in me. I hope I can carry that on and it’s a bit refreshing. Because I’m used to the negative commentary and I laugh and joke about it. But actually getting a bit of positive feedback, I’m actually liking it.”

He continued: “I am trying to be better every single day. I am conscious of my mistakes and I do want to be better. I’ve made mistakes in the past. I am young. I’ve got no excuse for what I’ve done and it’s still one of the biggest regrets that I’ve done, not only on the show, but in life itself. I have got time to learn, adapt and just be the best self that I can be.”

Below Deck Med airs on Bravo Mondays at 8 p.m. ET. New episodes stream the next day on Peacock.
