Anna Faris is opening up about her deep conversations with “religious” son Jack, 14, who she shares with ex Chris Pratt.

“He’s as solid as a tugboat, emotionally,” Faris, 49, said on the Thursday, August 20, episode of the “Dear Chelsea” podcast. “He just doesn’t get easily jarred. He handles situations really well.”

Faris then noted that her son is “religious,” leading host Chelsea Handler to wonder about the actress’ own feelings.

“I didn’t grow up with religion,” Faris explained. “He’s asked me to accept Jesus Christ … I told him that I would do anything for him, including this, but it’s still going to take a whole lot of long conversations.”

The Mom alum called her son “impressive” and admitted that she’s “tried to challenge him” on certain ideas.

“I’m like, ‘Do you think it’s a luxury that you get to be pro-life? Do you think that’s kind of a luxury?’ He’s like, ‘Maybe,’” she said. “Or I’ll say, ‘So what do you think of this megapastor that’s kind of a grifter? What do you think?’ He’s like, ‘Oh, megapastors are the worst.’ So it’s like, ‘OK, we’re getting there.’”

Faris continued, “I’m appreciative that he’s examining religion the way he is in terms of recognizing hypocrisy, starting to recognize hypocrisy. And I’m appreciative that we can have these long conversations.”

Faris and Pratt, 47, got married in 2009 and welcomed their son in 2012. Jack was born nine weeks premature, an experience which Pratt has said gave him a deeper appreciation for his faith.

“When my son Jack was fighting for his life, I found myself back on my knees, pleading to God for a miracle,” he wrote in an essay published in December 2025. “I promised that if Jack survived, I would devote my life to sharing God’s message. This time I meant it.”

After nearly 10 years of marriage, Faris and Pratt announced their split in 2017. Their divorce was finalized the following year.

Faris went on to marry cinematographer Michael Barrett. Pratt moved on with Katherine Schwarzenegger, who he met at church. The couple welcomed three children of their own: Lyla, 6, Eloise, 4, and Ford, 21 months.

Schwarzenegger, 36, recently opened up about the role faith plays in her family’s life during an appearance on the “Tell Me I’m a Good Mom” podcast with Lo Bosworth.

“We make that a really big part of our life and our day-to-day life and routine and conversation, and part of who [our kids] are as people,” she said. “I have so many values that are really important. The biggest thing is just being good people … being kind, empathetic, caring, loving, understanding. … I want to raise good people.”
