A 9-year-old American boy collecting sand on a beach in the Bahamas was visciously attacked by multiple dogs Tuesday and airlifted back to Florida for medical treatment.
The gruesome attack took place around 10:30 a.m. Tuesday on a beach in Alice Town, the capital of north Bimini Island, CBS News reported, citing the Royal Bahamas Police Force.
Police said the young boy had gone down to the beach to collect sand when the attack unfolded.
A male passerby intervened during the attack and was able to chase away the aggressive canines, according to police.
The unidentified youngster sustained multiple bite wounds to his right thigh, right arm, left leg, face and head.
He was taken to a local hospital. But his injuries were so severe that the US Coast Guard flew him to Miami for treatement.
The boy’s condition remains unknown as of Wednesday.
Police have identified the savage dog’s owner who is assisting the local cops in locating, securing and removing the dogs, the outlet reported.
