An angelic 4-year-old Kentucky girl died in a freak accident when she fell off a tractor and was run over, officials said Friday.
Little Hellayna Michelle King was at her family’s farm riding on an attachment rigged to the back of a tractor when the vehicle stopped suddenly, causing her to fall forward onto the ground, Clark County Coroner Neal Oliver told The Post on Friday.
The tractor then backed over her.
The dying girl’s family then “had to sit there 45 minutes with her” waiting for help because of a nearby road closure, while she was in pain, said her aunt, LaDonna Lovings, to WKYT.
Hellayna, who was one of four children, was described in her obituary as “full of life.
“The farm was a special place for Layna, and she especially loved the cows,” her stricken family said. “She also loved to sing, filling the days with her sweet voice and happy spirit.
“Whether she was outside playing, helping on the farm, or singing a favorite song, Layna embraced life with an energy and happiness that will be deeply missed by everyone who loved her.”
Hellayna was about to celebrate her 5th birthday Oct. 5. Lovings said “words can’t express how much we miss her.
“You know accidents happen all the time, and you just don’t think it’s going to happen to you,” Lovings told WKYT.
“If the bridge had been open, it would’ve taken them maybe 15, 20 minutes to get there,” she said of rescuers. “And you know, it may have made a difference, and it may not have made a difference — but the fact that somebody was there to try and help her would’ve made a difference.”
Hellayna’s mother, Rebecca Lovings, has launched a GoFundMe for an urn and to help with the mourning family’s expenses.
“We are so heartbroken we have lost our world and don’t know how to carry on with our lives,” she wrote on the fundraiser webpage. “But somehow [we] have to find a way as we have 3 other children who count on us everyday.”
