You can always tell when Halloween is on the horizon, because every streaming service stocks up on horror films until October 31.

Thanks to some impeccable timing, two of this year’s biggest horror hits are now streaming.

Watch With Us selected both of those films when narrowing down our picks for the three great horror movies to watch on Hulu, Netflix and HBO Max in October.

Our picks include a harrowing occult tale, a long-awaited sequel to a definitive zombie hit and the debut movie of the director behind Weapons.

‘Bring Her Back’ (2025)

Sally Hawkins has come a long way since playing Paddington Bear’s adoptive mother on the big screen. A lot of the scares in Bring Her Back come from Hawkins’ unnerving performance as Laura, the new foster mother to Andy (Billy Barratt) and his blind step-sister, Piper (Sora Wong).

Following the sudden death of their father, Andy and Piper move in with Laura and her other foster child, Oliver (Jonah Wren Phillips). Although Oliver is supposedly mute, Andy witnesses him calling for help. Laura has been keeping some dark secrets from the children she was supposed to protect, all in the name of her ongoing grief for her dead daughter. Laura’s occult ambitions frighten Andy, and they should, because he and his sister may pay the price for her actions.

Bring Her Back is streaming on HBO Max.

’28 Years Later’ (2025)

Over two decades after their early career hit, 28 Days Later, screenwriter Alex Garland and director Danny Boyle reunited for 28 Years Later. During the events of the first film, the United Kingdom was lost to a virus that transformed people into raging zombie-like creatures. Few people remain nearly three decades later, and traveling to the ravaged land is now a rite of passage for Jamie (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) and his 12-year-old son, Spike (Alfie Williams).

The father-and-son discover that the infected may be evolving, and the alpha leader, Samson (Chi Lewis-Parry), still retains a lot of his intellect. However, the real threat may come from Sir Jimmy Crystal (Jack O’Connell), the leader of a cult that has managed to survive on the British Isles without any outside help.

28 Years Later is streaming on Netflix.

‘Barbarian’ (2022)

What’s your nightmare Airbnb story? Whatever it is, it pales in comparison to writer and director Zach Cregger‘s horror film Barbarian. Ironically, it kind of plays like a rom-com at the start when a woman named Tess (Georgina Campbell) discovers that her rental house is double-booked, and a guy named Keith (Bill Skarsgård) is already checked in.

Instead of casting Tess out into a storm, Keith lets her stay and they seem to enjoy each other’s company. From there, we’ll simply tell you that this film’s best weapon is surprise. So don’t look up any spoilers about the plot and simply let the story take you to some very unexpected places.

Barbarian is streaming on Hulu.
