3 Best Peacock Movies to Binge-Watch This Weekend (April 18-19): ‘Now You See Me’ and More

Peacock just received a rare mid-month refresh of its movie lineup, and it was sorely needed.

Despite a tendency to front-load its movies at the beginning of each month, the latest additions to Peacock are some top-notch films, including a sci-fi epic from one of the best directors in the industry.

That’s our first selection for Watch With Us‘ three Peacock movies to binge-watch this weekend.

Our remaining selections include a fantastical heist flick and one of the all-time great comedy movies.

‘Interstellar’ (2014)

Christopher Nolan’s next film, The Odyssey, is likely to premiere on Peacock before the end of the year. In the meantime, one of the director’s previous masterpieces, Interstellar, is back on Peacock for at least a month. In the near future, Earth is dying, and humanity will go with it unless Cooper (Matthew McConaughey), Dr. Amelia Brand (Anne Hathaway) and other astronauts can locate a new home for the survivors.

Cooper always intended to return to Earth to reunite with his children, but the time dilation he encountered means his daughter, Murphy “Murph” Cooper (Jessica Chastain), has to grow up without him. Even if Coop and Brand succeed in their long-shot mission, it’s going to fall to Murph to figure out how to save the remaining people on Earth before they can even get to their new home.

Interstellar is streaming on Peacock.

‘Now You See Me’ (2013)

Magic is the art of illusion, but the Four Horsemen take it to a new level in Now You See Me. Separately, J. Daniel Atlas (Jesse Eisenberg), Henley Reeves (Isla Fisher), Merritt McKinney (Woody Harrelson) and Jack Wilder (Dave Franco) were each gifted in different aspects of magic performances. But someone has supplied the Four Horsemen with the high-tech equipment that seemingly allows them to rob banks from thousands of miles away.

It’s such a perfect crime that FBI agent Dylan Rhodes (Mark Ruffalo) and his colleagues can’t figure out how it was done. That’s why they call upon Thaddeus Bradley (Morgan Freeman), an ex-magician who knows all the old tricks of the trade. But even Bradley isn’t ready for the Four Horsemen’s most brazen stunt to date. They’re going to attempt the heist of a lifetime while rarely leaving the stage.

Now You See Me is streaming on Peacock.

‘Airplane!’ (1980)

It’s almost pointless to describe the plot of Airplane! because a mere recap of the story can’t convey how funny this movie is. Naked Gun directors Jim Abrahams, David Zucker and Jerry Zucker honed their comedic style with this film, and gave the late Leslie Nielsen a chance to reinvent himself as a deadpan comedic actor when they cast him as Dr. Rumack.

Robert Hays takes the leading role in the film as Ted Striker, a former pilot who can’t bring himself to fly again. His inability to deal with his trauma has already cost him his girlfriend, Elaine Dickinson (Julie Hagerty). To win back Elaine’s heart, Ted buys a ticket on her plane. When most of the passengers are overcome by food poisoning, only Ted and an inflatable autopilot stand in the way of the flight’s sudden stop.

Airplane! is streaming on Peacock.
