Unlike its rival streamer Netflix, Hulu doesn’t share its most popular movies and shows as separate lists. Instead, Disney’s more mature streamer runs a roundup of the top 15 movies and TV shows at any given time.
As you might expect, there are a lot of choices on this week’s updated list that had high positions on Hulu’s chart a week ago.
Rather than simply repeating last week’s choices, the Watch With Us team has narrowed this week’s selections down to just three.
So if you need guidance, these are Hulu’s most popular movies and shows that you should watch right now.
‘The Rookie’ (2018 – Present)
The Rookie recently wrapped season 7 on ABC, and it will be back for season 8 at some point in the future. The reasonable question to ask about this show is simple: At what point does John Nolan (Nathan Fillion) stop being the rookie? He’s actually a training officer by season 7, but at the beginning of the series, John was the oldest rookie police officer in the history of the LAPD.
Some of John’s fellow officers really don’t like him because of his age, and he did join the force during what could be accurately called his mid-life crisis. But he’s also a dedicated officer who has proven himself time and time again. The show has built a large supporting cast around John, including new rookies whom he gets to show the ropes. This is a very bingeable series, and with 126 episodes, it could keep you busy all summer long.
The Rookie is streaming on Hulu.
‘Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation’ (2015)
Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation is technically the second M: I collaboration between Tom Cruise and Christopher McQuarrie, who wrote the script for Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol four years earlier. But this is the movie that took the franchise to another level and gave it enough juice to run for another decade. For Ethan Hunt, getting blacklisted and branded a traitor must seem like old times by now. But it’s not every day that you meet a high-caliber woman who can take your breath away.
The woman in question is Ilsa Faust (Rebecca Ferguson), a disavowed MI6 agent secretly undercover with Ethan’s current adversaries in The Syndicate. Someone created The Syndicate using a network of burned spies and operatives to create a dangerous criminal and terrorist organization. Ilsa is in so deep that she can’t get out of The Syndicate alone, and Ethan can’t bring it down without her.
Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation is streaming on Hulu.
‘Tucci in Italy’ (2025 – Present)
Actor Stanley Tucci has had a lot of memorable roles over the years, but his latest part is as a tourist and the host of his own travel show on National Geographic. As explained by Tucci himself, Tucci in Italy is his attempt to better understand the country by meeting its people and consuming its food. Italian food is very prevalent in the United States, but there’s nothing quite like getting the genuine dishes from the people who have sustained Italy’s food culture for generations.
If this show doesn’t make you hungry, you haven’t been watching it long enough. Five mouth-watering episodes await any foodies who want to follow Tucci’s journey through June 8.
Tucci in Italy is streaming on Hulu.
