Cuo’s got a Woody!
Controversial Hollywood director Woody Allen heaped praise on Andrew Cuomo in backing the ex-governor for New York City mayor — saying he’d do a “much better job” than his young socialist foe Zohran Mamdani.
“I’m gonna vote. I’m gonna vote for Cuomo,” the 89-year-old lifelong New Yorker said on the “Honesty with Bari Weiss” podcast.
“I think Cuomo will do a much better job. Cuomo will be much better for New York. He’ll be much more efficient and he’ll be much more, he’ll just do a better job.”
The “Sleepers” director said he thought Mamdani’s heart was in the right place, but he has no chance of getting the things he wants to do actually done.
“I think [Cuomo is] experienced and knows New York, and Mamdani is inexperienced,” he continued.
While the Oscar-winning director has made a number of iconic American films, his scandal-scarred personal life has led to waves of public backlash.
His career took a massive hit when decades-old allegations surfaced that he sexually assaulted his 7-year-old daughter, Dylan Farrow, whom he adopted with his then gal pal Mia Farrow. Allen has repeatedly denied the accusations, but a number of actors have refused to work with him since.
Allen has long been controversial since he started dating Farrow’s 19-year-old daughter, Soon-Yi Previn, in the early 1990s and later married her. He has also been linked to the late notorious pedophile Jeffrey Epstein, who he paled around with even after the billionaire sex perv did time for abusing underage girls, reports said.
The backing of figure like Allen will likely not do much to help Cuomo, who’s trying to make a political comeback after being forced to resign amid sexual harassment allegations. Like Allen, Cuomo has vehemently denied the claims again him.
Cuomo has struggled to boost his polling numbers above 30% after the embarrassing loss in the primary to Mamdani, who at the time was a relatively unknown 33-year-old lawmaker.
The Queens pol and proud DSA member has since maintained a healthy lead over Cuomo and the others in the crowded field as he continues to rack up endorsements.
Just this week, Gov. Kathy Hochul and state Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie both lined up behind the far-left mayoral frontrunner.
