Justin Glaze’s decision to return to Bachelor in Paradise was not fueled by money.

“The money wasn’t there,” Justin, 31, said on the Monday, July 21, episode of the “Trading Secrets” podcast, noting that he was paid “less” on season 10 than his past appearance on the beach. “I’ll tell you why. People talk and I had an inclination, but the money was less for cast this time around — it doesn’t matter who you are. It didn’t matter if you have 1 follower or a million followers — because there was a cash prize component for Paradise so they weren’t paying people, incentivizing them to go.”

Justin continued, “They were like, ‘We can’t tell you why but we’re doing flat rates, nobody’s getting favorable whatever.’ You could negotiate before, if you carried more weight. So that wasn’t a factor of me going back.”

While sharing a sneak preview for the remainder of the season, Bachelor in Paradise introduced a $500,000 bag of cash and games to contestants. In the trailer for season 10, host Jesse Palmer teased, “Your fate is going to be determined tonight. You have to make your most important decision: half a million dollars, or is it love?”

Details around the prize money have been short, with Jesse playing coy in an interview with Us Weekly. “That was Wells [Adams]’ bag of money — you never know who doesn’t take credit cards in Paradise,” he quipped earlier this month of the bartender. “People are going to have to watch to find out. Wells has to be more careful keeping that money lying around.”

Justin initially headed to the beaches of Mexico for Bachelor in Paradise season 8. While he didn’t find love on the spinoff show, Justin pursued a romance with Bachelor Nation alum Susie Evans — whom he split from in 2024. Both Justin and Susie, 31, appeared on Bachelor in Paradise season 10, forming a love triangle with Lexi Young.

While Justin seemed to be pursuing a relationship with Lexi, 30, on Bachelor in Paradise, he ultimately opted to give his rose to Susie — who declined his gesture and was eliminated. Justin and Lexi also exited the show. While things between Lexi and Justin seemed amicable at first, she has since seemingly thrown subtle shade at him on social media.

In a TikTok shared earlier this month, Lexi uploaded a video of herself smiling at the camera with the text, “‘You look happier.’ Thanks, I stopped dating men who aren’t over their ex.”

Justin, for his part, reacted to Lexi’s social media digs on Monday. “Now it just feels like you’re using the moment to kind of do something for yourself out of it at my expense. Again, I understand being hurt and I apologize for that. It’s a conversation I wish I could have had, but I don’t really appreciate some of the shade that she’s thrown with her TikToks and some of the messaging that she has used in song choices and comments and stuff like that,” he said.

Justin continued, “I don’t think it’s necessary. I respect her. I don’t think it’s respectful. So it was disappointing to see, for sure. I don’t know. I mean, again, maybe it’s the realest of me, but it’s like, we knew each other for four days.”
