Team USA hockey player Megan Keller became an instant Olympic sensation on February 19, 2026, when she scored the game-winning goal to lift the United States over Canada in overtime of the gold medal game.
It was another exhilarating moment in the storied history of Team USA olympic hockey, coming just moments after Hilary Knight tied the game in the final minutes of regulation.
But Keller’s Olympic journey began long before her now viral 3-on-3 golden goal. The athlete first put on skates not long after she first put on shoes, competing mostly on boys teams growing up in the midwest.
She played her college hockey at Boston College where she established herself as one of the best defenders in the country and broke the university’s all-time record for points by a defenceman.
Now a two-time Olympic gold medalist, Keller also won gold six times at the IHF World Championships and silver an additional three times.
And while Keller already has plenty of gold in her trophy case, there’s still a possibility for more. Her uncle and godfather, Dave Winner told the Williamsport Sun-Gazette in February 2026 that she already has her eyes on 2030.
“There’s a great possibility that she could play four years from now, in another Olympics, and after that, it wouldn’t surprise me if she transitioned into coaching at some point,” he said.
