Walton Goggins has no problem immersing himself in complicated character roles.

“I think for so many people that care about this business as much as I do, it’s everything,” the White Lotus actor, 53, exclusively told Us Weekly on the red carpet for the 2025 Emmy Awards at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday, September 14. “I get so much joy, I derive so much pleasure.”

Goggins added that he loves fully immersing himself in projects where he has to really push himself.

“I get so much joy out of playing pretend that it consumes my life,” he said. “It’s the thing I most wanna do in this world.”

Goggins has recently taken on gritty characters including The Ghoul in Fallout and Rick Hatchett in The White Lotus season 3. His performance in Mike White’s anthology series earned him a nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series. Goggins faced off against his White Lotus costars Jason Isaacs and Sam Rockwell. Zach Cherry, James Marsden, Tramell Tillman and John Turturro are also nominated in the category.

Goggins walked the red carpet with his wife, Nadia Conners, as they celebrated his big night. The actor looked dashing in a white dress shirt and a matching jacket paired with black trousers. Goggins had multiple buttons undone, giving a glimpse of his chest.

Conners dazzled in a white gown with black statement embellishments that complemented her date’s look.

The White Lotus received a total of 23 nominations at the 77th annual ceremony, including Outstanding Drama Series. Carrie Coon, Parker Posey, Natasha Rothwell and Aimee Lou Wood were all up for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series, while White earned a nod for Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series and Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series.

The HBO series, which premiered in 2021, centers on guests and hotel workers at the fictional luxury hotel chain as they experience a slew of personal ups and downs during their stays. In addition to the drama happening in the resort, there is always at least one mysterious death that is eventually revealed at the end of each season.

In season 3, Goggins was one of the characters who died, alongside Wood’s character, Chelsea. Goggins and Wood played a couple staying at the White Lotus in Thailand. Goggins’ character, Rick, arranged the trip with the hopes of getting revenge against his birth father, while Chelsea tried to help her boyfriend see the positivity in the world around them.

Earlier this month, it was reported that The White Lotus is headed for France for its next season. Goggins told Us that the plans were “nothing definitive” to his knowledge.
