The first look at season 7 of Virgin River was full of heartbreak, jealousy, babies and more.
Netflix released the sneak peek on Monday, February 9, which shows Mel (Alexandra Breckenridge) and Jack (Martin Henderson) finding out that they might adopt a baby. The fictional couple, who got married one season prior, is full of hope until the mother-to-be reveals she “needs time” to figure out what to do.
“This is the end of one chapter and the beginning of another,” Mel tells Jack as they navigate ups and downs in their journey to become parents. “I wasn’t ready for how painful it would be to feel hope again.”
Jack, meanwhile, tries to reassure Mel about their future.
“It’s risky, overwhelming and scary. You know what else is risky? Falling in love,” he notes. “And we did that.”
Elsewhere in the trailer, Mel and Jack choose their honeymoon by randomly pointing to a place on a globe — but audiences have to wait until March 12 to find out where they will be going together.
There are also shifts in other relationships with Doc (Tim Matheson) getting jealous when Hope (Annette O’Toole) gets closer to another man. Lizzie (Sarah Dugdale), meanwhile, gives birth to her and Denny’s baby (Kai Bradbury), which results in its own issues.
Brie (Zibby Allen) is still divided between Brady (Benjamin Hollingsworth) and Mike (Marco Grazzini) but there’s now another man that seems to catch her eye.
“From day 1, it’s been an uphill battle for them,” Hollingsworth, 41, exclusively told Us Weekly in November 2025 about what fans can expect for Brie and Brady. “But I think that that’s what makes them so inspiring and what makes them a couple that people are rooting for.”
Hollingsworth praised Virgin River for making the romance feel realistic.
“They do face all these challenges — much like our own personal lives,” he noted. “No one’s perfect. But they do have something. They have this chemistry — this magnetic pull together.”
At the time, Hollingsworth also urged fans not to give up hope, saying, “Against all odds, they’re going to figure something out and they’re going to survive.”
Based on the book series by Robyn Carr, Virgin River centers around the lives of residents living in a small town in Northern California. When viewers last saw Brie and Brady, the exes slept together before Brie told her boyfriend, Mike, about her affair, which led him to propose to her.
“Season 8, we haven’t started but we have shot season 7. I don’t think [the proposal] will get in [Brie and Brady’s] way but who knows?” Hollingsworth teased to Us. “You never know. It definitely complicates things a little bit.”
The actor expressed faith in Brady and Brie’s romance.
“I personally don’t think that Brie’s heart is necessarily with Mike,” he hinted. “You’ll see both of them trying to navigate what this new normal looks like. Whether it involves Mike or not is really something that [you have to wait and see].”
Hollingsworth continued: “Brady just wants to be the best version of himself. Part of that is trying to give Brie space to figure out what she wants and let her come to him. I think that’s very hard for Brady to do.”
Virgin River is currently streaming on Netflix and season 7 airs March 12.
