It’s time to brush up on your travel etiquette.

If you’re one of those people with quirky travel habits — it might be time to put those to an end. Experts at Hotels.com revealed the most irritating things travelers do while on vacation — and you don’t want to be one of these people.

The booking site surveyed travelers on social media asking what habits their fellow hotel-mates do that annoys them the most.

While nothing is worse than getting down to the pool while on vacation and not seing a single lounge chair free. This is a universal feeling — but 60% of people despise when others reserve pool chairs, and then disappear for hours.

And it seems that those who are doing the reserving, aren’t too fond of it either — since hotels aren’t providing enough chairs for their guests to begin with.

A Florida man named Mark Tolerbed told the Wall Street Journal that he had to wake up before the crack of dawn to ensure he found seats for himself and his girlfriend while on vacation.

“We hated getting up at 4 a.m.,” Toler said.

Despite this battle, some hotels are going to the extreme by not permitting guests to plop their belongings on a coveted chair.

According to the popular booking site, Marriott’s Maui Ocean Club in Hawaii has a strict policy where they only allow visitors to reserve one additional chair. Their policy also says that unattended items may be tagged and removed by pool security.

A hotel in Greece — St. George Beach Hotel & Spa Resort — only gives guests a sunbed when they arrive at the pool area.

As a result of all this, many resort-goers might find it hard to actually relax — the main reason they’re on vacation to begin with.

Another habit that people dislike but don’t feel as strongly about is working by the pool.

Most of the surveyees don’t enjoy seeing a person with their heads buried in a laptop — but almost a third are fine with it.

Something even worse than getting work done while on hotel property? Packing on the PDA out in the open in front of other travelers.

86% of people gave a thumbs down to people smooching while frolicking by the pool. Argument could be said, let the PDA people enjoy their trip — but who am I to chime in?

An unexpected complaint is how fellow travelers dress — or lack thereof while on their foreign rendezvous.

76% of travelers agree that they don’t want to see people wearing pajamas or bathrobes around a hotel — especially when at breakfast.

This might be more common than expected — as Hotel Bennett in South Carolina and the Goring hotel in the UK — have a specific dress code and prohobit any guest from publicly wearing their bathrobe in common areas around the hotels.

The last habit that had those surveyed conflicted was whether it was acceptable to eat and drink in a hotel bed — as 40% agreed to let travelers eat wherever they choose.

If you are planning on ordering room service while away from home — make sure to clean up after yourself.

Etiquette coach Myka Meier told Travel + Leisure that she advises travelers not to leave their finished room service trays in the hallway outside their hotel rooms.

“It’s messy and smelly for other guests, as well as a trip hazard,” she said. “Instead, call room service when you’re done and tell them you’re ready to have your tray picked up.”
