Savannah Guthrie‘s Today show family is continuing to show their support amid the search for her missing mother, Nancy Guthrie.
“Hoda [Kotb] is joining us this morning as our Today family continues to navigate uncharted territory, balancing the updates on the search for Savannah’s mom with all the other stories of the day, like we normally do,” cohost Craig Melvin said during the Monday, February 9, broadcast. “But we know things are far from normal right now. So folks, we are asking for your grace as we continue to do this.”
Kotb, 61, chimed in to add, “I mean, paramount through all of this, Savannah and her family are our top priority. In addition to that, there is also a job to do.”
Carson Daly emphasized that the Today anchors would continue to “do our best” while grappling with the story. “It’s certainly not easy to do our jobs and we’re doing that obviously for [Savannah] and for you, too, the viewers,” he said.
According to Al Roker, delivering the news like normal is “exactly what Savannah would want us to do.”
Kotb also noted that their “thoughts and prayers” are with the Guthrie family “24/7.”
Savannah, 54, has not appeared on the Today show since her mom was reported missing in Arizona on February 1. Last week, her colleagues issued a statement amid her absence.
“On behalf of our family, I want to thank everyone for the thoughts, prayers and messages of support,” the message read. “Right now, our focus remains on the safe return of our dear mom. We thank law enforcement for their hard work on this case and encourage anyone with information to contact the Pima County Sheriff’s Department at 520-351-4900.”
Nancy, 84, was last seen on January 31. Authorities in Arizona revealed on Sunday, February 8, that the investigation is still ongoing.
“Follow-up continues at multiple locations,” read a statement shared via social media. “No suspects, persons of interest, or vehicles have been identified. No scheduled press briefings. If any significant developments occur in the case, a press conference will be called.”
Savannah and her siblings have addressed their mom’s disappearance in several emotional videos, the latest of which included a direct message to her possible captors.
“We received your message and we understand,” Savannah said in an Instagram video on Saturday, February 7. “We beg you now to return our mother to us so that we can celebrate with her. This is the only way we will have peace. This is very valuable to us and we will pay.”

Throughout the ordeal, Savannah’s cohosts have been outspoken with their support for her family. Kotb returned to the Today show on Friday, February 6, following her exit as an anchor in 2025.
“This whole thing is breaking my heart and I’m happy to be sitting here with you,” she said on Friday. “I picture Savannah sitting there. I just want to say good morning and everybody’s hoping and praying for Nancy’s safe return.”
Despite the “massive show of support” Savannah has received from the nation, Kotb admitted to feeling somewhat “helpless.”
“We’re all so close with her, we all want to help her,” she explained, adding that “all we can do” is “be patient and put prayers up.”
