Tia Mowry is offering lessons about surviving divorce.

Mowry, 46, took to her Instagram Stories on Wednesday, June 25, for a fan Q&A, and when someone solicited the actress’ advice on how to bounce back from a broken marriage, she shared some words of wisdom.

“I think I’d say: dive into doing the work,” Mowry advised. “Really, truly focus on self-care. Focus on what makes you happy and what brings you joy. Build a tribe, a community of friends, a support system. Meditate. Try new hobbies. Read books on healing. Spend time with your kids if you have them, or just surround yourself with people who genuinely love and support you.”

She continued, “Do things that feel fun and fulfilling. Travel, if you can. Traveling really helped me. It’s all about creating new experiences. The more experiences you have, the further away you get from that heavy, gut-wrenching feeling of divorce.”

“Also, allow yourself to cry,” she added. “Allow yourself to feel it all. Just don’t let it consume you. I hope that helps.”

Mowry was married to actor Cory Hardrict from 2008 until 2023. The exes share son Cree, 13, and daughter Cairo, 7.

In October 2022, the Sister, Sister star revealed that she and Hardrict, 45, had decided to call it quits. They finalized their split five months later.

“I have always been honest with my fans, and today is no different. I wanted to share that Cory and I have decided to go our separate ways,” Mowry wrote via Instagram at the time. “These decisions are never easy, and not without sadness. We will maintain a friendship as we co-parent our beautiful children.”

Earlier this year, Hardrict opened up about his dynamic with Mowry in an episode of Sherri.

“If you really love your children, you won’t get involved in the noise or the mess,” he said. “I make sure I always think about them first. I put myself last. So, if you do that, you’re gonna avoid the mess, right? It’s not mess in regards to the situation, it’s just what people create, like narratives. Because no one knows nothing.”

He added, “Everything starts and ends with love. We’re a family. No matter what people say. I block out the noise. My kids [are] gonna live to see all this one day, and it’s just kind of like, I gotta make sure I’m representing for them.”

Mowry, for her part, seems to be enjoying life as a single mom.

“If I could be anyone for a day, I would wanna be my daughter Cairo like I am truly obsessed with her,” she gushed during Wednesday’s Q&A. “I feel so blessed to be able to give her the life that I’ve always wanted so I’m just so intrigued by her and I’m intrigued by the way she thinks … it’s a healthy obsession that I have with her.”
