There’s a Mercury Cazimi in Leo coming, and it’s time to talk, folks.
Cazimi comes from the Arabic word kaṣmīmī, which translates to “as if in the heart.”
In astrological terms, a cazimi transpires when a planet is in close or exact conjunction with the sun, right in the infernal heart of it, if you will.
A Mercury cazimi occurs when our planet of the mind and the mouth, poetry and slander, short trips and high wires, is within one degree of the GOAT star in our solar system.
A cazimi is something of a solar amplifier/purifier, where the inherent energy of a planet is hyped and heightened by its proximity to the sun.
In effect and on July 31, the planet of communion is getting a baptism by fire in a sign ruled by the sun — and we’ll all feel the heat.
“This one’s huge for anyone stuck in relationship limbo. Mercury cazimi in Leo is basically the universe giving you permission to say what you’ve been avoiding,” Angelika Koch, astrologer and relationship expert at LGBTQ+ dating app Taimi, told The Post.
Koch maintains that this cazimi, which is occurring amid Mercury retrograde, will not be gentl,e but it will spur growth.
“Cazimi energy doesn’t really give you a choice about timing. Situationships that have been limping along for months are going to face some kind of reckoning. Not because the universe is cruel, but because pretending everything’s fine when it isn’t takes way too much energy. It’s messy, but necessary,” Koch said.
Koch notes that now is the hour for real talk in relationships, whether that’s defining it, addressing what’s not working or being honest about changing needs or a change of heart.
This alignment and alliance between the planet of communication and the solar star of the show equals divine messages and shadowy truths, taking a tentative step into the spotlight.
At best, the cazimi offers us a portal to the possible.

However, as Koch notes, the people of the twin are primed to shock everyone, not least of all themselves, with their straightforward approach to expressing their emotional needs.
“This can result in surprisingly direct statements about relationship expectations or feelings they’ve been processing internally.”
As Leo hosts the cazimi, the big cats are the biggest recipients of this conjunction.
“Leos find themselves at the center of this cosmic event, with Mercury conjunct the Sun directly
in their sign. This placement encourages Leos to move beyond their typical theatrical
presentations and engage in more authentic self-expression within relationships,” explained Koch.
Koch notes that lions may drop the impulse to entertain in favor of vulnerable truth-telling.
“This is Leo’s moment to stop performing the version of themselves they think their partner wants and start being radically honest about their needs. So if you’re a Leo, expect some very direct ‘this is what I want from us’ conversations.”
Koch notes that Virgos may struggle the most with the energy of the cazimi.
“Virgos might actually have the hardest time with this one. They’ve been analyzing their
