Bet it all on blonde, because The Masked Singer just revealed the identity of Yorkie.
This post contains spoilers for The Masked Singer season 13, episode 9.
If you guessed Erika Jayne was hiding under those rhinestone sunglasses, then congratulations — you know your Bravo stars.
“If you cannot have fun as a yorkie in a miniskirt and a crop top — I have no idea what else could be more perfect,” the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star, 53, exclusively told Us Weekly ahead of her Wednesday, April 9, elimination from the Fox competition series. “I love to perform. The production quality is amazing. The costumes are outrageous, and you get to just have a good time, so why not?”
As Bravo fans know, Erika is a seasoned performer, having starred on Broadway and headlined her own Las Vegas residency, but appearing on The Masked Singer was an entirely different beast.
“The mask itself is heavy,” the Pretty Mess author explained. “The costume is absolutely adorable, and it was one of the reasons why I could just really embrace the character and have so much fun. But I could only see very little of what was in front of me. I had big boots and a heavy head. So, I had to be very careful and very mindful about just where I was stepping and what I was doing, so that I could sing in tune and hit the choreo. You had to be really present to do it.”
Erika previously competed on Dancing With the Stars back in season 24, but she says it’s difficult to compare the two experiences.
“It’s completely different,” she told Us. “The thing about Dancing With the Stars is you’re working with a partner, so you have to consider that. This, I have to consider an 8-pound weight on my head. Very little vision. Like, I could not see. And again, stepping off stage, making sure I was in the right place at the right time. Because you don’t wanna fall down, and you don’t wanna be out of sync or out of time or out of tune.”
Erika is just one of three Housewives to appear on The Masked Singer, following Kandi Burruss as the Night Angel (who won season 3) and Luann de Lesseps as Hibiscus (who competed in season 10 alongside fellow Bravolebrity Tom Sandoval as Diver). Like all Masked contestants, she was sworn to secrecy about her stint on the show, but she suspects her mom, Renee, clocked her right away. (Erika dedicated her Wednesday performance of The Supremes’ “Stop! In the Name of Love” to her mother.)
“Listen, I think that my mother will recognize her daughter’s voice, for sure,” the reality star said with a laugh. “She knows her child!”
While Renee may have realized her daughter was Yorkie, Erika didn’t know who she was sharing the stage with until they were unmasked.
“I had no idea that Method Man was my neighbor,” she joked, referring to the Wu-Tang Clan rapper, 54, who was revealed as Stud Muffin earlier this month. “I would’ve loved [to know], because I’m a fan. I had no idea who anyone was. I can’t tell you what a great job the production does of keeping you separated, keeping you quiet, keeping your identity hidden. And everybody was just lovely. I had the best time on this show.”
With The Masked Singer behind her and RHOBH season 14 coming to a close, Erika is now gearing up to play London’s Mighty Hoopla festival in June alongside the likes of Kesha, Ciara and Heidi Montag. She couldn’t share too many details about what’s coming, but she hinted there may be some elements from her Vegas residency.
“We have a great 30-minute, 40-minute set that we’re excited to perform,” she said. “There may or may not be some new material incorporated. We’re gonna kill it.”
The Masked Singer airs on Fox Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET.
