Teyana Taylor and Aaron Pierre are going strong.

The singer and actress, 34, gave an update on her sweet new romance while appearing on the Wednesday, September 24 edition of the Sherri show. When host Sherri Shepherd inquired how she’s enjoying her “apple pie” — Taylor’s nickname for Pierre — she replied, “I mean Luther [Vandross] said ‘Never Too Much,’ right? … Never too much apple pie.”

Taylor officially confirmed her relationship with Pierre, an English actor who voiced Mufasa in Mufasa: The Lion King, via Instagram in June, when she wished her beau a happy 31st birthday.

Months earlier, the couple turned heads by posing with each other at Vanity Fair’s Oscar bash and sharing the photos on their social media.

Taylor told Shepherd, 58, that talking about Pierre makes her feel “all blushy,” and added, “I feel good. And it feels good to feel good.”

When Shepherd asked Taylor for tips on finding love, she responded, “I think the most important thing is, no matter where you come from, whether it’s a heartbreak, wherever, I think the best thing is to be willing to love unarmored.”

Taylor noted, “I think if you come with a wall built, it’ll block your blessings, you know? And who that person is, may not be who that person was. So it’s kind of like, I walk a straight line, unarmored, and I walk a straight line ready to receive whatever is mine to hold.”

Taylor was married to former NBA player Iman Shumpert from 2016 to 2024. She filed for divorce in early 2023. She and Shumpert, 35, then tried to reconcile without success, and a divorce judgment was entered the following year. The exes share two children: Junie Shumpert, born in 2015, and Rue Shumpert, born in 2020.

Taylor stars opposite Leonardo DiCaprio in the action thriller One Battle After Another, which hits theaters on Friday, September 26.

Shepherd brought up Taylor’s “sexual chemistry” with DiCaprio, 50, on screen, prompting Taylor to call the film “a job.”

“Babe, did you see my apple pie?” Taylor said, referencing Pierre. “My eyes are on my prize, OK?”

She continued, “My eyes is on my prize, so when I step on set, I’m here to do a job. I’m a team player. We’re all players on this team, and we’re here to win, and we’re here to make magic, so when I get on set, it’s kind of like, ‘When the whistle blow, it’s time to get to work.’ And I get to work and I go my a** home.”

Taylor said that both she and Pierre are “very secure. And when we understand what the prize is, we’re not worried about if anybody is stepping outside of that prize trying to look for another one.
