Teddi Mellencamp’s bond with dad John Mellencamp is stronger than ever amid her stage 4 cancer battle.
Teddi, 44, addressed the last time she saw her musician father while answering fan questions on the Wednesday, August 20, episode of her “Two Ts in a Pod” podcast, which she cohosts with Tamra Judge.
“I saw him on the 4th of July,” the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum shared. “I talk to him on the phone every single day. If I miss his call, he sends a follow-up text like I didn’t see the missed call, like, ‘Hey!’”
“My dad is very much there, but I haven’t seen him recently. Flying is a lot for me right now. I’m sure I’ll see him soon,” Teddi added.
During an appearance on the “Jamie Kern Lima Show” podcast in July, Teddi said her dad had stepped up to care for her as she deals with her health struggles.
“He has been beyond. The things that I wouldn’t be capable of doing without my dad — not only for financial reasons,” she said.
“With all of these medical treatments and everything, he has stepped in. He’s helped me have a nurse,” the podcast host continued. “He calls me every single day. He makes sure that I’m OK.”
Teddi was first diagnosed with melanoma in 2022. In February, the reality star revealed she underwent surgery to remove multiple brain tumors after suffering “severe and debilitating headaches.” However, in March, she said doctors had found more tumors — three in her brain and two on her lungs — for which she was undergoing immunotherapy until recently.
In July, Teddi said she was taking a break from her immunotherapy treatment because of the physical toll it was having on her body.
“Essentially, what we figured out with me was, yes, I started out feeling great, and I could do all the pods and I could do all these things, and I could go to all my daughter’s horse shows and I could stay at my house by myself, and I felt really strong,” she said on an episode of “Two Ts in a Pod.”
She continued, “And what’s happening with me is the longer that I’m on immunotherapy, the sicker it’s making me.”
“So we’re going to take a little break on the immunotherapy to get my body back feeling stronger,” Teddi said. “And I’m on steroids and we’re doing everything that we can to get me back to feeling like I, you know, I can do this, I can do all the things.”
