Taylor Swift is her fiancé Travis Kelce’s ultimate hype woman.
Appearing on the U.K.’s Hits Radio on Friday, October 3 to promote her new album, The Life of a Showgirl, Swift, 35, praised Kelce when speaking about her song “Wish List.”
The track’s lyrics allude to Swift’s desire for love and a family with Kelce, 35, away from the spotlight.
Hits Radio host Fleur East referenced the lyrics, when she asked Swift, “I love the line where you’re like, ‘just give me a best friend who’s hot.’ Do you think you’ve achieved that?”
In response, Swift confirmed she believed she had as she showed off her engagement ring. (Swift and Kelce announced their engagement in August after two years of dating.)
“100 percent,” the singer replied. “Look what I got!”
She continued: “You would absolutely love him. He’s a blast. He’s just the most fun person, [the] life of any party, even when it’s just us. So, it’s like, yeah, that is that is the goal, isn’t it? Find a best friend who you think is hot.”
In “Wish List,” Swift sings about the future she imagines for herself and Kelce.
“I just want you / Have a couple kids, got the whole block lookin’ like you / We tell the world to leave us the f**k alone … and they do / Wow / Got me dreamin’ ’bout a driveway with a basketball hoop / Boss up, settle down, got a wishlist / I just want you,” the lyrics read.
During her promotional tour for her 12th studio album, Swift pinpointed “Wish List” as one of her favorite songs on The Life of a Showgirl, when speaking to the U.K.’s HeartRadio on Friday.
“It was the song where after we finished it, I was like, ‘Oh, we’re done. Like, we’re we’re good. We’re done with this. This is the final piece.’ It’s a really dreamy song. It’s a really romantic song,” Swift said. “It details all these different things that people aspire to have in their lives and all the wishes that people are making all over the world.”
Swift shared more info about the track in an album feature shared via Apple Music.
“It is one of my favorite songs on the album, by far,” the singer divulged. “It’s so romantic. It’s got such great imagery in the verses about what kinds of lives people want and just, kind of, living in this state of acceptance of whatever way anybody wants to live in the world. As long as you get to live the way you want to live.”
Swift and Kelce announced their engagement in a joint Instagram post on August 26. “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married,” she captioned a series of photos of Kelce down on one knee.
The couple first went public with their relationship in September 2023 when Swift attended one of his Kansas City Chiefs home games. The “Bad Blood” singer was regularly spotted in the stands as she cheered him on throughout the season. Meanwhile, Kelce reciprocated support when he traveled around the world to watch Swift perform, with his first visit taking place in Argentina in November 2023.
