Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce couldn’t keep their hands to themselves throughout her appearance on the “New Heights” podcast.
Swift, 35, teamed up with Travis, also 35, and his brother, Jason Kelce, for a jam-packed interview which dropped Wednesday, August 13. Throughout the two-hour conversation, Swift opened up about buying back her masters, life after The Eras Tour and her newfound love for football — all while keeping in close contact with her boyfriend.
The couple were often caught gazing lovingly at one another as they spoke and held hands on camera. Swift even snuck a quick kiss to celebrate at the end of the interview.
“Tay, thank you so much for hopping on,” Jason, 37, said, playfully rolling his eyes as he saw the duo lock lips. “You are the best. This has been a blast.”
Fans got an unfiltered glimpse at Travis’ relationship with the pop star throughout the episode, which raked in more than a million viewers for its live premiere on Wednesday night.
“This podcast has done a lot for me,” Swift teased. “This podcast got me a boyfriend ever since Travis decided to use it as his personal dating app two years ago.”
In case you (somehow) missed it, Travis revealed during a 2023 episode of “New Heights” that he wanted to give Swift a friendship bracelet with his phone number on it when he saw one of her Eras Tour concerts in Kansas City. The pair didn’t cross paths at the show, so Travis told Jason he felt “butthurt” by the apparent snub. Swift eventually reached out and went to her first Chiefs game that fall — and the rest is history.
“It was such a wild romantic gesture to just be like, ‘I want to date you!’” Swift continued on Wednesday. “At first when I looked at it, I was like, ‘This dude didn’t get a meet-and-greet and he’s making it everyone’s problem.’ He didn’t even reach out to our management! When this podcast came out, I was like, ‘Did he ever reach out to be in the tents or did we know he was in the building?’ He came with Patrick Mahomes and he thought that because he knows the elevator lady that he could just talk to her about getting [backstage]. That’s how it works in 1973.”
Swift admitted she’s “genuinely terrified” about looking at her DMs, but something about Travis’ public plea felt different. “This was more like I was in an ’80s John Hughes movie and he was just standing outside of my window with a boombox just being like, ‘I want to date you! Do you want to date me!?’” she explained. “So I was like, ‘If this guy isn’t crazy, which is a big if, this is sort of what I’ve been writing songs about what I’ve been wanting to happen to me since I was a teenager.’”
Travis gushed that he felt like “the luckiest man in the world” after finally getting the chance to meet Swift.
Along with discussing her personal life, Swift debuted the album cover and song titles for her 12th record, The Life of a Showgirl, which drops October 3. Travis promised fans that they can expect every song to be a “banger.”
“This album is about what was going on behind the scenes in my inner life during this tour, which was so exuberant and electric and vibrant,” Swift explained of her inspiration. “It comes from the most infectiously, joyful, wild, dramatic place I was in my life. So that effervescence has come through on this record. Like you said, bangers.”
She added, “This is the record I’ve been wanting to make for a very long time. … It’s just right.”
