DK Metcalf got a crash course in Aaron Rodgers’ living habits when he reported to the Pittsburgh Steelers’ training camp.
Metcalf, 27, told Yahoo Sports on Friday, July 25, that he was initially surprised to learn that he would be neighbors with Rodgers, 41, in their Saint Vincent College dorms.
“He popped out of the corner,” Metcalf, a wide receiver, quipped of Rodgers walking out of the shared bathroom into his room. “The toilet is super loud, so he was like, ‘Yeah, at night, if we got to piss, just don’t flush the toilet.’ I was like, ‘All right, bet.’”
The former Green Bay Packers quarterback signed with the Steelers earlier this year. He is currently training with his new team before the fall NFL season kicks off.
At one point, Metcalf texted Rodgers to ask whether he was asleep at 9:30 that evening. When Rodgers confirmed that he was alert, Metcalf said that he replied, “All right, bet. I’m about to flush the toilet.”
It’s evident that Rodgers has his eye on the prize this upcoming season, especially given his particular dorm arrangements.
“Most of the 32 teams would probably say something to that accord at this time of the year, but I think there’s really only six to eight that have a legitimate chance,” Rodgers told reporters in a separate press conference. “Sometimes it’s 10 to 12, and there’s teams that surprise you. I would say on paper, we’re probably one of those 10 to 12.”
As Rodgers gears up for his 21st season in the NFL, he will have his new wife by his side. (Rodgers subtly revealed in a press conference last month that he got married in the offseason without mentioning his bride by name.)
“When you meet the right one and you’re with the right one your whole world changes in a second,” Rodgers gushed of marriage in a Saturday, July 26, interview on NFL Network’s Good Morning Football. “To have that person that unconditionally loves you behind the scenes — there’s no better feeling in the world.”
He added, “I got the most incredible wife. I just really love her and I’m just so thankful to have her by my side in the end. When you have that stability and that rock behind you at the house, you feel like you can do anything.”
In December 2024, Rodgers shared that he was seeing a woman named Brittani. He later confirmed that his wife’s name is, in fact, Brittani, though he has not shared any additional information about her identity.
Metcalf is also feeling loved-up going into the upcoming NFL season too, after proposing to pop star Normani in March.
“I was definitely that little girl dreaming of what my wedding dress would look like, what my ring would look like, and what my dream proposal would look like,” Normani, 29, told Vogue of Metcalf’s proposal. “But for me, the most important part is that God has just been there. He’s been faithful to both of us, and I have found my dream man. There’s nobody that I would want to spend the rest of my life with and do life with. He’s literally my best friend, and I’m just really grateful that we found each other.”
