Startling new footage captured the moment a small commuter plane crashed into an Arizona neighborhood, clipping the roof of one home before nose-diving into the backyard of another.
Dramatic footage showed parts of the Piper PA-28 on the damaged roof of the north Phoenix home, with the small, mangled aircraft jutting from the neighboring yard – wedged between a pool and a portion of the home where a baby nursery is located, ABC News reported.
Two people aboard the jet – a flight instructor and a student – were rushed to a local hospital, along with a resident inside one of the battered homes, ABC 15 reported.
All three men were taken to a local hospital but are reportedly in stable condition.
The plane had suffered mechanical failure and crashed while attempting to return to Deer Valley Airport at 7:20 a.m., according to the Federal Aviation Administration.
The crash prompted a neighborhood evacuation as hazmat crews worked to clean up a fuel-soaked mess at the harrowing scene.
The FAA is investigating the crash.
