The son of an Indiana mayor was arrested Saturday evening after he allegedly fell asleep behind the wheel at a McDonald’s drive-thru while he was twice the legal alcohol limit.

Christian Roberson, 35, allegedly took a snooze behind the wheel of his Kia Optima while parked between the take-out windows at a McDonald’s drive-thru in Elkhart, Indiana late Saturday night, ABC 57 reported.

When officers pulled into the parking lot just before 3 a.m. in response to a purported medical emergency, they found a dazed Roberson in his car.

The cops noticed he was exhibiting signs of possible impairment when he woke up from his slumber.

They had Roberson complete field sobriety tests and a breathalyzer, which showed he was twice over the legal blood alcohol limit of .08%, WDNU reported.

The Elkhart Fire Department also responded to the call and confirmed that Roberson wasn’t experiencing any sort of medical problem, ABC 57 reported.

Roberson was taken to a hospital for an additional blood draw to certify his blood alcohol levels. Police said the results are still pending as of Tuesday.

Still, the breathalyzer test and his offbeat behavior at the scene were enough to arrest him on a preliminary charge of operating while intoxicated.

Roberson was released on a whopping $25,000 bond, which was inflated while taking into account his several prior OWI convictions, WDNU reported.

His parents, Elkhart Mayor Rod Roberson and Regina Roberson, confirmed their son’s umpteenth arrest.

“Regina and I love and will support him unconditionally through this difficult time. That being said, driving under the influence is dangerous and unacceptable. We believe in accountability, and our son will face this matter through the appropriate legal process,” they wrote in a statement to the outlets.

The Roberson family was previously marred by tragedy when the mayor’s brother, Garvin, disappeared in November 2022. Garvin was found dead in a vehicle submerged in water in Sturgis, Michigan one week after he was reported missing, WVPE reported.
