A video shows protesters throwing cement bricks at cops on Saturday during the “No Kings” rally in Los Angeles.
The video — shared by Andy Ngo, a conservative media influencer — shows two men wearing masks, one of whom was carrying a flag of Mexico, breaking a large cement pole into smaller pieces and hurling it at LAPD officers who were controlling the crowd in front of the detention center near the federal building.
The unrest in Los Angeles was part of a series of nationwide demonstrations. The LAPD issued a citywide tactical alert at 5 p.m. due to “incidents occurring on Alameda between Aliso and Temple,” near the federal Metropolitan Detention Center.
About two hundred people headed to the site to taunt officers, violently shaking metal gates set up to protect the complex and shouting profanities at officers.
Videos from the scene in Los Angeles also showed protesters waving Palestinian and other flags while throwing objects toward Department of Homeland Security agents.
DHS personnel deployed tear gas as LAPD officers in riot gear arrived to control the situation. Protesters resisted arrests, creating chaotic scenes in the streets outside the detention center.
Police arrested 70 people in relation to the protests yesterday. It is unclear if the duo in the video were among those arrested.
LAPD also reported that rocks were thrown at officers, leaving several with minor injuries while taking people into custody.
As of Sunday morning, no updates on charges, or identifications have been made. Los Angeles police said they are still working to confirm the total number of arrests
By early Sunday, cops said nine juveniles were arrested for refusing to disperse — but all were quickly released back into their parents’ custody according to ABC7.
Organizers behind the nationwide “No Kings” movement are claiming a massive turnout, calling Saturday the “largest single-day nonviolent protest in modern American history.” They say at least 8 million people flooded more than 3,300 rallies spanning all 50 states.
From coast to coast, demonstrators took aim at Donald Trump, blasting his policies, soaring living costs and the ongoing war with Iran, as crowds packed streets in a sweeping show of dissent.
Celebrities and public figures, including actor Robert De Niro and state Attorney General Letitia James, were reportedly present at various rallies.
The No Kings rally is a recurring, nationwide protest movement in the U.S., with major demonstrations occurring in June 2025, October 2025, and a third, larger wave in March 2026.
