It might seem taboo to spill the beans on one’s sex life, but now people can do so anonymously thanks to a salacious new survey.
The sexperts at Psychology Today have devised a three-minute Sexual Satisfaction Test that reveals just how satisfied people are in the sack.
They point out that while “sexual desire and satisfaction can manifest very differently in men and women,” both sexes can experience “low desire.”
“This can be resolved by addressing conflict, consistently sharing affection, communicating outside the bedroom, and making sufficient time for intimacy,” they wrote.
The quiz comes amid a trend of sexlessness sweeping the US with adults aged 22 to 34 hit the hardest by the no-nookie epidemic.
To gauge the caliber of one’s sex life, respondents are provided a series of statements and asked whether they “strongly agree,” are “neutral” or “strongly disagree.”
These statements include “I rarely feel bored during sex,” “sex feels like a chore,” and “I would like sex that feels like a scene out of a movie.”
They’re then given a score on a scale of 0 to 100 and informed what each score means.
Those who scored between 0 and 18 were deemed to have “very low sexual satisfaction” with the experts noting that “persistent low sexual satisfaction could indicate that your relationship is not on solid footing.”
A score of 40-62 indicated middle-of-the-road carnal contentment, meaning that participants were “not low or high in sexual satisfaction,” per Psychology Today.
Meanwhile, scores that fell between 82 and 100 meant the user had “very high sexual satisfaction.”
For those whose sex lives weren’t as fulfilling, the experts devised several tips for “kicking it up a notch in the bedroom.”
Tip number one? Provide and receive feedback on what goes on in the boudoir. “Ask your partner how they feel about their sexual experiences,” they wrote. “Be honest and avoid blame and criticism.”
Next, if making whoopie is starting to lose its luster, take a break and focus on non-sexual activities like yoga, meditation or even taking a walk together. After all, absence might make one’s appetite grow stronger.
Finally, communicate one’s desires to your partner.
The experts note that “in new relationships, both partners generally feel an active desire” but that it’s natural for this to diminish over time.
“Don’t pathologize this change,” they said.
