Savannah Chrisley recalled her parents, Todd and Julie Chrisley, hitting an “all-time low” before they were granted a presidential pardon from Donald Trump.

“I had just reached a point of, like, I’ve done everything I can do. At this point, there’s nothing more I can do,” Savannah, 27, explained on My View with Lara Trump on Saturday, June 28.

Todd, 56, and Julie, 52 received a pardon from President Trump in May following their 2022 conviction on 12 counts of tax evasion, bank and wire fraud and conspiracy. Todd was sentenced to 12 years behind bars while Julie was given seven years. (Both Chrisleys have always maintained their innocence.)

In the family’s latest interview, Savannah insisted that the Chrisleys knew the “only way out” for her parents was Trump winning last November’s presidential election.

“On a personal level, we watched the election together, and [my brother Grayson, 19] got to vote in the election for the first time,” Savannah explained. “And when we were watching it and saw the president win, we both started sobbing and he just grabbed me and hugged me because we knew that was our only way out.”

Todd then chimed in, “We owe thanks to God … and God touched President Trump’s heart. God led the people to advocate for us. And so I’m grateful because every night I would pray that God would return me home to my wife and my children. And he did that, so I’m grateful.”

The Chrisleys revealed that Todd briefly got to personally thank President Trump via FaceTime once he was freed from prison.

“[I told him,] ‘Thank you, you reunited me with my family,’” Todd confirmed.

Julie walked host Lara Trump – who is married to President Trump’s son, Eric Trump – through the moment she learned she was being pardoned.

“I call my Savannah one more time and she said, ‘He did it! He signed it!’ And I just started busting out crying,” Julie reflected. “And then I just hung up. I was so nervous I just hung up. It was the craziest thing because unfortunately, most of the news that you get in prison is bad news. So they’re like, ‘Are you OK?’ And I’m like, ‘I am! I think I’m getting out of here!’”

Todd confessed that he didn’t actually believe it when a prison guard told him that he was being granted clemency by the president.

The Chrisley Knows Best star said, “I went into my dorm and one of the CO’s came in and he goes, ‘You good?’ And I said, ‘As good as I can be!’ And he said, ‘Todd you just got pardoned. They sent me down here to see if you were OK.’ And I said, ‘Well, hell, if I’m pardoned they don’t have to be worried about me. I’m great!’

Elsewhere in the interview, Todd admitted he was very aware that his and Julie’s post-prison experience was nothing like what most inmates go through.

“We stepped out of prison,” Todd said. “We walked into a home, started filming immediately, and new cars were ordered, and we’re looking for houses, and we’re doing all the things that we need to be doing.”

He went on, “But all of these men and women don’t get to do that. When they come out, they don’t have a home to go to. They don’t have money to go buy food.”

It was announced in May that the Chrisleys had already started filming a brand new Lifetime docu-drama series about Todd and Julie’s post-prison life. (The Untitled Chrisleys Project hasn’t received an official release window from Lifetime at this time.)

“The Chrisleys don’t know best anymore,” Lifetime teased. “But they’re doing their best to be there for each other.”
