If you’re not willing to subscribe to Hallmark+, your choices are limited when it comes to streaming Hallmark movies. The network does release some of its movies to other streaming services, but your mileage may vary in terms of quality.
Luckily for you, one of Hallmark’s best original Christmas movies just became available on Amazon Prime Video.
Three Wise Men and a Baby is one of the strongest Hallmark movies out there, and now you can watch it at home. Watch With Us unpacks what makes Three Wise Men and a Baby work better than your average Hallmark movie.
The Premise Is a Well-Worn Classic — but Different for Hallmark
So many of the movies Hallmark makes follow a similar formula — small-town guy meets big-city girl, misunderstandings ensue and then they fall in love. So while Three Wise Men and a Baby is a pretty obvious homage to the 1987 hit Three Men and a Baby, it’s a break from the norm in this setting.
Three brothers, “perfect” firefighter Luke (Andrew Walker), anxious pet therapist Stephan (Paul Campbell) and opinionated game designer Taylor (Tyler Hynes) find themselves in charge of a baby that’s left on the firehouse doorstep with a note from his mother saying she’ll be back by Christmas. The three brothers are forced to work together to care for the baby, something they haven’t done since they were children.
It Stars Legendary Hallmark Leading Men
Walker, Hynes and Campbell are all pros when it comes to the Hallmark screen. Campbell, in particular, is a Hallmark icon — he cowrote this movie alongside Kimberly Sustad, and has written several others, including the popular Christmas by Starlight. Hynes, for his part, has starred in more than 20 movies for Hallmark since joining the family in 2018, including our personal favorite Winter in Vail. Walker is even more prolific — he’s been working with Hallmark since 2012, when he appeared in A Bride for Christmas. (We recommend his 2020 movie Sweet Autumn in particular.)
If you’re a fan of Prince Charming types, this movie has them in spades. As they work out the issues that have long plagued their brotherly dynamic, it’s fun to watch them bicker and bond over their desire to help baby Thomas. All three actors get to show off their range as they tackle challenging sibling dynamics in a relatable story you’re sure to love.
It’s the Start of a Franchise
Three Wise Men and a Baby was such a hit that it got a sequel, Three Wiser Men and a Boy, and Hallmark just announced a third (currently untitled) film is in the works. Clearly, the brothers are going to continue having adventures. Now’s the perfect time to join in on the fun. Beat the summer heat by having a little Christmas in July celebration with the Brenner brothers.
You can watch Three Wise Men and a Baby on Amazon Prime Video until July 31.
