Gotta snack em all!
A single Flamin’ Hot Cheeto shaped like an iconic Pokémon was purchased at auction for a staggering $88,000.
“Cheetozard,” a 3-inch long, red-hot puffy snack that somewhat resembles the fire-breathing Pokémon monster Charizard, sold at Goldin’s auction website this week to an anonymous buyer — perhaps a wanna-be Pokémon master.
Charizard is among the original and most popular Pokémon in the franchise’s long-running game and TV series.
“It was initially discovered and preserved sometime between 2018-2022 by 1st & Goal Collectibles,” Goldin said, adding that it surged in popularity on social media last year due to its likeness to the fictional creature.
It was then acquired by memorabilia sites Arena Club in November 2024, where it was touted as the “rarest Charizard in the world.”
The aging piece of processed cornmeal comes attached to a custom Pokémon card and is locked up inside a clear storage box, likely to keep Cheetozard from disintegrating in the elements.
Bidding started at $275 on Feb. 11, but skyrocketed to the winning bid of $72,000 on Sunday — plus the buyer’s premium for a grand total of $87,840.
In 2017, a regular-flavored Cheeto that resembled the slain gorilla Harambe sold for almost $100,000 on eBay.
