Pete Davidson is looking forward to becoming a father.

Davidson, who’s expecting his first child with girlfriend Elsie Hewitt, discussed his excitement while appearing on the Wednesday, August 6, edition of Late Night With Seth Meyers

“I”m stoked. I can’t wait. Let’s go,” he said, adding, “I’m so excited. I’ve never been more excited for anything.”

Host Seth Meyers asked Davidson if he received any advice from Eddie Murphy, his costar in the new film The Pickup

“Eddie was like, ‘I got no advice for you. Because you’re on your own,’” the actor replied, smiling. “He was like, ‘You can’t tell anyone how to [be a parent]. You know, you’re gonna do your own thing.’”

Last week, Davidson, 31, and Hewitt, 29, made their first red-carpet appearance since announcing Hewitt’s pregnancy on July 16. The model debuted her baby bump in a form-fitting black dress, while her boyfriend sported a brown Sergio Tacchini tracksuit.

“Pete and Elsie definitely weren’t planning on starting a family but are over the moon about it. They are so excited,” a source exclusively told Us Weekly last month. “Pete and Elsie have a really playful relationship, and things are going really well.”

The insider added of the parents-to-be, “This has brought them even closer. It’s a healthy relationship for Pete. Pete has always wanted to be a dad and thinks the timing in his life is perfect. He couldn’t have done it a few years ago but is in a very different place in life now.”

Several days after the announcement, Davidson told Entertainment Tonight that “it’s been my dream forever since I was a little kid. The baby’s mother is one of my favorite people to ever exist ever.”

Davidson said Hewitt is “going to be a great mom.” Meanwhile, “I hope to be a, you know, the dad I hoped that I would have,” he revealed on July 22.

Davidson was 7 years old when his father, Scott Davidson, died during the September 11, 2001, attacks on New York City’s World Trade Center. In a 2020 interview with Charlamagne Tha God, he said that he wanted to raise a child to “be there for something or do something that I didn’t have growing up.”

Two years later, he spoke about his fatherhood aspirations on Kevin Hart’s Hart to Heart.

“I’m definitely a family guy,” he said. “My favorite thing ever, which I have yet to achieve, I wanna have a kid. That’s like, my dream. It’s like, super corny, [but] it would be so fun. Dress up the little dude. … I’m so excited for that chapter. That’s kind of what I’m just preparing for now, is just trying to be as good as a dude, develop and get better so when that happens it’s just easier.”
