An accused modern-day Bonnie and Clyde allegedly carried out a string of armed robberies across California — only pausing to get hitched in Las Vegas, according to authorities.
North Hollywood lovebirds Antonio Lamar Bland, 36, and Abigail Luckey, 49, were charged in a federal grand jury indictment for an “armed robbery spree” of 12 stores last year — ironically getting arrested on Valentine’s Day, a week after getting hitched, prosecutors said.
In the robberies, Bland and another man charged alongside them — 23-year-old Ronnie Tucker — would storm the businesses while Luckey waited outside as their getaway driver, the indictment alleges.
The two men wore masks and hooded sweatshirts while holding up clerks at gunpoint and demanding they empty their cash registers — while also stealing bsynaders’ wallets and cellphones, the indictment said.
The trio allegedly pulled off heists at nine 7-Eleven stores across multiple Southern California neighborhoods — including North Hollywood and Pasadena — as well as a smoke shop and two doughnut stores, according to the indictment
Eight days into the crime bender, Luckey and Bland made a detour on Feb. 6 last year to tie the knot in Vegas — before speeding off two days later to continue the robberies, the feds said.
The partners in crime were finally nabbed by Burbank police on Valentine’s Day 2024 after an attempted robbery of a Doughnut shop in Downey — running away when an employee shot back, authorities said.
A day before arresting the trio, detectives installed a GPS tracking device on Luckey’s Chevrolet Cruze, according to the indictment.
Bland, Tucker, and Luckey are charged with three counts of robbery, one count of attempted robbery, and one count of conspiracy to commit interference with commerce by robbery, according to the indictment.
Bland and Tucker are also charged with four counts of brandishing a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence.
Brand, who has a previous felony conviction in Los Angeles is being additionally charged with one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm and one count of being a felon in possession of ammunition.
The trio faces a maximum of 20 years behind bars. Brand and Tucker also facing a maximum of seven years on brandishing firearm charges, and Brand facing another 15 years in federal prison for each count of being a felon in possession of a firearm and being a felon in possession of ammunition, the indictment said.
