On Monday, Oct. 6, the full harvest supermoon will rise and rage in the Mars-ruled, impulse-prone sign of Aries.

The full moon will peak at 11:48 p.m. EDT at 14°08 Aries.

Full moons have a habit of intensifying emotions and illuminating that which has been hidden and is in dire need of addressing, what can no longer be ignored or endured.

The sign that the full moon falls in lends its energy to the lunar cycle. In this case, we have war-lording, boat-burning, matches-for-fingers Aries at the lunar helm. Aries favors contact sports, the color of blood, impulse over reason, and authenticity over likability — suggesting this one shall be a doozy, folks.

Meaning of a supermoon

A supermoon is a sexier shorthand for what astrologers call a perigean full moon, wherein the full moon appears brighter, bolder and more pronounced because it’s at its closest point to Earth in its elliptical orbit.

Supermoons exceed the disk size of the average moon by roughly 8% and can appear 16% brighter.

This week’s supermoon in Aries will be the biggest and brightest supermoon of the year.

As full moons rise, they bring to the surface issues, emotions, intestinal parasites, menses and other stickiness that demand to be dealt with.

Full moons of every ilk are about fruition and closure. The very shape of the shine is a metaphor for how we culminate, close circles and/or end cycles. A supermoon, due to its proximity, heightens these effects; more revealing, more feeling, and fingers crossed, more healing, folks.

Meaning of the full moon in Aries, October 2025

Full moons reflect not only the actions and intentions initiated during the most recent new moon, but also what we put into practice during the new moon in the corresponding zodiac sign.

In this case, we cast ourselves back six months to the new moon solar eclipse in Aries on March 29, 2025.

Consider the themes presented, questions raised, bridges built or burned, seeds planted, and patterns started during those first days of spring, as you may find them coming to full-blown fruition right about now.

You reap what you sow, as they say, and never is the adage more apt than under the ever-loving light of the harvest moon.

Supermoon October 2025

As Aries is Mars-ruled, the ruler of this moon is Mars, which is currently toiling and boiling in the emotional swamp of Scorpio.

In Scorpio, Mars oxygenates our willpower and our ability to dig deep, fight through and stay true. This powerful influence encourages us to commune with the warrior within and face a situation, injustice, or opponent with both absolute conviction and tactical empathy.

Amid the grace of grit, we are in danger of creating chaos when our will is met with subversion, dismissal or opposition.

However, this moon reminds us that we always have more options than we initially believe possible.

Furthermore, Mercury, our planet of the mind and mouth (also in Scorpio), forms a square with Pluto, the planet of transformation. This is fertile friction, my babies, revealing the force and fury of the thoughts we sow and the words we spread.

This aspect asks us to consider how our own subconscious motivations and biases lead us to operate/rage/lash out from a place of disempowerment.

Communication in and around the full moon will likely feel sharp and activating, but these dialogues should not be avoided as they are meant to foster depth rather than contempt, plus breakthroughs, not broken furniture.

Remember, my babies, every climb up and out requires a descent down and in.

Here’s to finding the common ground at the bottom.

Spiritual Meaning of the Harvest Moon

Unlike other full moons associated with the Farmer’s Almanac, the harvest moon does not relate to a specific month, but rather the first full moon after the fall equinox.

In the Northern Hemisphere, near the fall equinox, the full moon rises at sunset and remains visible for a handful of nights in a row, roughly at the same time. Traditionally, these bonus early-arriving, late-shining moon beams gave farmers a whole night of light for harvesting and celebrating, hence the name.

In a similar spirit (and spirits), alternative names for the harvest moon include wine moon, song moon, and barley moon.

Imbibing and bellowing — can dig.

We’ll all be feeling the hot and holy hellfire of the full moon in Aries.

While Aries folk are nearly always down for a dare, Hily Dating App astrologer Lisa Stardust told The Post that a full supermoon in their sign amplifies hunger for new knowledge and strange shores.

“Under this energy, there will be an appreciation for both order and chaos. Plan out an exciting day, but in case things don’t go your way, leave room for exploration and improvisation.”

This full moon, which activates your first house of the self, might make you feel particularly sensitive to criticism and paranoid about persecution.

“If you struggle to let your guard down, open your heart to connect with others who make you feel safe and supported,” shared Stardust.

For Cancer folk, the Aries full moon lights a match in their tenth house of legacy and lasting impact, urging you to set fire to a role or mask that no longer suits or stirs you.

“You will most likely have the confidence and drive to spark something new,” said Stardust. She shared that preparation should be the midwife of inspiration for the crab contingent.

“You may already be in bed when inspiration strikes, so keep a notepad by the bedside just in case.”

When it comes to relationship dynamics, you are encouraged to be crystal clear and wholly confident in expressing your needs and nonnegotiables.

“Don’t shy away from being assertive in what you’re looking for in a relationship. Say precisely what you want or need, and be concise. No holding back!”

Ahoy, Libra! This powerful supermoon in Aries rises as the sun is shining in your first house of the self.

The warrior influence of Aries emboldens you to be the bad b–ch you are.

“This energy will make you want to embrace your individuality, which may oppose the status quo. You are your own person; let your true self shine without hesitation. Put your purest and rawest sides out in the open and not care if you are being judged,” said Stardust.

She noted that polish is overrated, pretense is its own kind of avoidance, and the veneer of pretending is a roadblock to genuine connection.

When is the next full moon
