An NYPD officer was injured after being clocked in the head with an object while attempting to arrest a stabbing suspect in the Bronx Thursday night, authorities said.
Cops were inside the Fordham Road subway station when shortly before 5:30 p.m. they spotted a man, 41, believed to have knifed someone earlier in the day on East 157th Street and Gerard Avenue, the NYPD said.
As officers approached the suspect, he chucked an unknown item that nailed one cop in the noggin before fleeing, a department spokesperson said.
The officer was taken to an area hospital with a minor laceration and is in stable condition.
Police said the suspect was wanted for allegedly stabbing a man earlier in the day at around 12:15 p.m.
The knifed victim is in stable condition, cops said.
No arrests have been made.
The investigation is ongoing.
