Nina Dobrev spent some quality time with loved ones in her first social media post since her split from fiancé Shaun White went public.

The former Vampire Diaries star, 36, shared a photo via her Instagram Story on Wednesday, September 17, where she snuggled with two children. Dobrev was beaming as she hugged the two kids, with People reporting that the Canada native was spending time with family (Dobrev and White did not have any children during their five years together.)

Us Weekly confirmed on September 11 that Dobrev and White had called off their engagement less than a year after they announced plans to marry in October 2024. The news was shocking for fans of both stars, as Dobrev and White were spotted holding hands in public only 11 days earlier.

A source revealed exclusively to Us that Dobrev was understandably “devastated” by the end of her relationship, though stressed that she was being supported by family and “her closest girlfriends.”

“[It’s] still very fresh … [Her friends] have been checking in on her,” the source said on Monday, September 15.

Following her separation from White, fans resurfaced a recent TikTok video from Dobrev that may have foreshadowed the breakup.

“How do you sleep at night knowing people don’t like you? With no underwear, in case they want to kiss my ass,” Dobrev lip-synced in the TikTok. “What’s your advice for women trying to fix their man? Listen, Bob the Builder, he’s got 10 other women trying to fix him too, and you all look like a damn construction crew.”

Another source subsequently confirmed to Us that cheating was not to blame for Dobrev and White abruptly ending their engagement.

“There was no cheating at all during the course of their five-and-a-half-year relationship,” an insider told Us, adding: “They were very loyal to each other. Any online speculation that suggests otherwise is ridiculous.”

Us also reported on Wednesday that there was no truth to rumors that White and Dobrev had significant disagreements over starting a family. An insider explained that both stars “wanted a family,” though there was no indication “one wanted it more than the other.”

“[Dobrev] couldn’t wait to be married and to start a family with Shaun,” the source told Us.

White, 39, quickly jetted off to Beijing, China, post-breakup, where he reminisced via Instagram about competing in the Winter Olympics in February 2022. In the caption, he wrote that he was feeling “a bit nostalgic” about being back in Beijing. (White traveled to China to promote his winter sports tour, The Snow League, ahead of a three-day event at Yunding Snow Park in December.)

The three-time Olympic gold medalist then appeared on NBC’s Today on Tuesday, September 16, to discuss the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy. White did not address his split from Dobrev during the interview, though he did express excitement to attend the Winter Olympics as a spectator next February.

“I’ll be running around, definitely supporting my friends competing and just taking it in,” he said. “This will be my first Winter Olympics where I’m not competing, so a lot of feelings there, but honestly, I’m excited to support and check it out.”

The 2026 Winter Olympics will take place from February 6 to February 22, 2026, with live coverage airing on NBC and Peacock.
