Neil Perry still has a lot to say about his termination from his family group, The Band Perry.

“Some families play board games. Others take each other’s life’s work,” Perry, 36, wrote alongside a TikTok video uploaded on Thursday, September 17.

Perry included a snippet of a new untitled song from his solo project named WOLVESofJUNE.

“The Band Perry → The Banned Perry. Drop your family lore in the chat,” he wrote in the caption.

Perry’s post comes more than a month after he claimed that he was “terminated” from The Band Perry. (The Band Perry previously consisted of Neil and his siblings Kimberly Perry and Reid Perry before Kimberly’s husband, Johnny Costello, joined the group in 2025. Reid ultimately left The Band Perry that same year.)

“June 2024 took something from me. Something I had spent my entire life building. A band. A business. A family. A name,” the musician wrote via Instagram in August. “My sister wanted her husband to become a member of the band, taking my brother’s place. I made it equally clear that I was not okay with that.”

Neil continued, “By then, the situation had become about far more than the lineup. I had witnessed instability and broken trust that fundamentally changed my ability to move forward. Weeks later, I was terminated. The day after my birthday. I never expected that my decision not to participate under those circumstances would also mean losing my financial interest and access to the band’s platforms, resources and audience I had spent my life helping build.”

Neither Kimberly nor Costello have publicly addressed Neil’s allegations. Us previously reached out to Kimberly, Costello and Reid but did not hear back.

While Neil is no longer involved with The Band Perry, he shared that he planned on continuing music with a solo project.

“I watched a story emerge that didn’t resemble the one I lived. The anger became music. The grief became songs. The loss became freedom,” he continued. “June 2024 took the old life. @wolvesofjune is what came next.”

The Band Perry rose to fame in 2010 following the release of their song “If I Die Young.” The country ballad spent 53 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and earned the group two Academy of Country Music Awards as well as a Grammy nomination for Best Country Song.

The musical act went on hiatus in 2022 before reuniting three years later.

“We’d been on the road since I was 15. Reid was 10. Neil was 8 at our first show. Their entire childhood and my young adulthood went to The Band Perry,” Kimberly recalled on Bobby Bones’ “The Bobbycast” podcast earlier this year. “By 2022, we’d been through so many changes creatively and otherwise — a lot that people didn’t see. We needed a spiritual health break. We needed a mental health break. We couldn’t keep touring without taking a hot minute to pause.”
