If fans were worried about Tony DiNozzo and Ziva David’s chemistry being intact, the official NCIS: Tony & Ziva trailer proves their steamy connection hasn’t cooled down over the past 10-plus years.
Paramount+ released the full-length trailer for the NCIS spinoff on Thursday, July 24, and it is fire — and we don’t mean the literal kind. The video shows Tony (Michael Weatherly) and Ziva (Cote de Pablo) back together raising their daughter, Tali (Isla Gie), while claiming they aren’t still attracted to one another.
“We used to chase bad guys together and now we share this incredible child and that’s it,” Ziva tells one of her friends in the trailer, after both she and Tony told Tali that “no” they aren’t getting back together.
However, as the trailer goes on, glimpses at Tony and Ziva getting handsy and making out prove that they’re still as hot as ever. Plus, the former NCIS agents continue to be very skilled at fighting bad guys and going on the run, which comes in handy after Tony learns hackers wired $150 million euros into his account to get him into hot water with Interpol.
“Someone is trying to frame us for this cyber-attack,” Tony tells Ziva, who instantly agrees to go on the run from him until they figure out who is after them.
Ziva notes, “We’re fugitives from Interpol,” to which Tony quips, “Until our names are cleared … We’re like a modern-day Bonnie and Clyde with better snacks.”
The twosome leave their daughter with a trusted friend — who also appears to be a badass fighter — as they go incognito, run around Europe and try to solve the case.
“I’m Magnum P.I.,” Tony jokes at one point while wearing a thick mustache reminiscent of the one Tom Selleck sported while playing private investigator Magnum on the iconic TV show. In typical Ziva fashion, she must take Tony down a peg, replying, “More like Groucho Marks.”
Tony later admits, “Cops, assassins, killer cars, not quite the happily ever after I was hoping for.” While Ziva explains, “Happily ever after is a fairy tale,” the pair start hooking up.
Elsewhere in the trailer, Tony describes his and Ziva’s mission as “more of a cross between techno thriller and romantic comedy,” confessing, “But this is our story.”
The trailer ends with Tony and Ziva in close quarters after barely making it out of a dangerous situation. “You are so …” a frustrated Ziva tells him, before he interrupts and says, “Charming, sexy?” Ziva then yells back, “Stupid!”
Fans were introduced to Tony during season 1 of NCIS where he was Leroy Jethro Gibbs’ (Mark Harmon) right hand agent in the Washington, D.C. office. Weatherly exited the series after season 13.
De Pablo’s Ziva joined the NCIS team during season 3 and departed during season 11. Ziva fell in love with Tony during their time together but was presumed to be dead when she exited the show — at which point Tony began raising their daughter.
During season 16, it was revealed that Ziva was alive, and the actress returned for several episodes in season 17 before leaving again.
In February 2024, de Pablo and Weatherly were announced as the stars of NCIS: Tony & Ziva, which follows their lives in Europe while Tony runs a security company.
NCIS: Tony & Ziva will premiere on Paramount+ Thursday, September 4, with three episodes.
