NBA star Anthony Edwards and influencer Ayesha Howard welcomed a daughter together in October 2024 — but their tumultuous relationship has mostly played out in the courtroom.
Edwards, 23, and Howard share daughter Aubri Summers, whose paternity and custody has been hotly-contested points of debate for the exes.
In April 2025, Howard was granted temporary sole and legal custody of Aubri. The development came after months of legal back-and-forth for Howard and Edwards, a star for the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Before the birth of their daughter, Edwards filed a petition for paternity and child support.
According to In Touch, who first reported the news, Edwards’ lawyers asked for genetic testing to be conducted. “Edwards is entitled to an order requiring the parties to undergo genetic testing. If genetic testing shows that Edwards is the father, Edwards requests an order establishing the minor child’s paternity,” his petition read.
The petition continued, “Edwards knows of no other person or entity, not a party to this case, with physical custody of the minor child or claims to have custody or visitation rights concerning the minor child. Further, Edwards has never participated as a party or witness or in any other capacity in any other litigation concerning the custody of or visitation with the minor child in this or any other state.”
It is unclear how or when Edwards and Howard met.

The day after Howard gave birth, Edwards filed a new motion in his paternity lawsuit.
In documents obtained by Us Weekly, Edwards asked for DNA testing by a “neutral and licensed laboratory” to determine if he is the father.
Edwards requested genetic testing be performed on the unborn baby. If testing proved that Edwards was the father, he requested an order establishing the baby’s paternity and child support.
The documents stated Edwards was unaware of any other individual with physical custody or visitation rights.

Edwards underwent a DNA test to confirm paternity, which was later revealed in court documents released in March 2025.

Howard called herself a “fit and loving mother” as she requested sole legal and physical custody, care and control of Aubri in a legal filing.
The documents, obtained by Us Weekly, revealed that Edwards had been biologically proven to be the father of the child.
Howard requested that Edwards reimburse her for any “actual costs incurred for her pregnancy, birth and expenses incurred after the child’s birth” and child support payments to cover Aubri’s education, upbringing and maintenance. She also requested Edwards cover her legal fees.
March 2025
A judge ruled that child support would be established in Georgia.
According to court documents, Howard said she moved to California from Georgia prior to Aubri’s birth and had no intention of moving back.
Edwards questioned whether Howard ever moved to California in the first place and suggested she was simply looking for a higher child support payment amount in the state.
April 2025
As the child support payment battle raged on, Howard said she was unemployed and relying on the help of her family to raise Aubri.
In court documents, Howard argued that Edwards had the “legal obligation to provide support for the minor child.”
April 2025
Edwards agreed to give Howard temporary sole and legal custody of Aubri.
Howard noted in her court filings that she has been Aubri’s sole caregiver since her birth. Edwards is asking for a Georgia court hearing to “establish [his] child support obligations.”
