Some of Demi Engemann‘s costars from The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives accused her of planning to fabricate an affair story line with Taylor Frankie Paul‘s ex Dakota Mortensen — but does the rest of MomTok think that’s true?

During an exclusive interview with Us Weekly, Layla Taylor teased that “a lot of truth will come out” after various accusations were made amid the cast.

“There’s definitely a lot of, he said, she said,” Layla noted. “A lot of girls are just kind of trying to throw people under the bus right now.”

Despite Layla being on good terms with Mikayla Matthews and Jessi Ngatikaura — who started the rumor — she wasn’t convinced.

“It’s hard. It’s hard to see for sure,” she added. “I feel like until more comes out, I feel like we all just kind of need to stop with the spreading of the narrative. So it’s hard right now for sure.”

Mikayla accused Demi of attempting to manufacture a story line while on the Tuesday, May 20, episode of “The Viall Files” podcast, saying, “Demi wanted to have a huge finale for season 1 and so she was like, ‘We can make up this whole thing that I have an affair with Dakota.’ We were like, ‘Oh, that’s a weird thing to say.’”

Jessi, meanwhile, said Demi “had a whole plan,” adding, “It wasn’t like, ‘Hey, guys, this could be funny.’ It was like, ‘We could meet in a car and then they could catch us.’”

According to Jessi, her individual issues weren’t clouding her judgment of Demi. “It says a lot that there are seven women who feel the exact same way about her,” she said. “It’s not just me that had issues.”

Demi has yet to publicly address the claims. She is currently on the outs with most of her costars after season 2 of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, which premiered earlier this month, showed her individual feuds with Jessi, Taylor and Jen Affleck.

Whitney Leavitt was one of the only people still on good terms with Demi.

“There’s definitely things that I didn’t agree with what Demi did — and I’ll tell that to her face. She already knows that,” Whitney told Us. “But I think just more than anything, I just know that everyone is always going through something.”

Despite disagreeing with some of Demi’s behavior, Whitney defended their friendship, saying, “There’s a reason they’re reacting the way that they’re reacting and in this group, what I like to believe that the intent is to not be malicious or to intentionally hurt people. It’s so much deeper than that and unfortunately hurt people, hurt people.”

Whitney also weighed in on Demi’s future in MomTok.

“You have to compartmentalize relationships in this group and for Demi, she is an adult. If she wants to leave and doesn’t want to be a part of it anymore, that’s going to be her decision,” she told Us. “But I don’t need to go and follow suit and be like, ‘OK, peace out too.’ If I wanted to leave, then that has to be my own decision. I’m not going to do it because somebody else has left.”

According to the cast — including newbie Miranda McWhorter — there is more to the story, which they are currently filming.

“We were all pretty vocal with her about and it landed to her in some pretty sticky situations,” Miranda teased during the joint interview. “But you’ll see how it plays out. I think she’s making strides and trying — so I’m wishing the best for her.”

The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives is currently streaming on Hulu.
