A bride was shocked to find one of her bridesmaid dresses in a thrift store — 37 years on.
Victoria Post, 32, was out thrift shopping with her mom, Theresa Post, when she picked out a dress, only to discover it was a bridesmaid dress from her wedding.
Theresa and her husband, John, got married in 1989, so the sudden appearance of this dress nearly four decades later was certainly a surprise.
Theresa’s six bridesmaids all kept their dresses, so she assumed one of them donated over the years, which is how it ended up in the thrift store.
Both Victoria and Theresa were gobsmacked at the discovery, but didn’t end up purchasing the dress, as it was being sold for $150, more than what Theresa bought it for in the 80s.
Victoria, a medical device salesperson from Long Island, New York, said: “We were all stunned!
“Our first thought was who dropped it off at the thrift?
“Which one of your bridesmaids?
“When we got home, my mom took out her wedding album and it is the same style, color, fabric and all!”
Theresa bought the dress in 1989 for just under $100, but it was being sold at the thrift store in 2026 for $150.
Victoria said: “My mom and I laughed at the price.
“Considering what she’d paid in the 80s, it had certainly appreciated in value.
“It’s nice to think it will carry on and be loved by many others!”
