A suspect is in custody and a hospital is in the process of returning to normal operations following a shooting in Troy, Michigan, police confirmed.
“All clear at Corewell Troy, suspect is in custody,” Troy Police Department said on X about the shooting at Corewell Health Beaumont Troy Hospital, adding that a media release will be available soon.
Police called the shooting an “isolated incident” on X shortly after it happened. It took place just after 7 a.m. local time in the hospital’s parking garage. Police say five shots were fired, striking the victim and his vehicle.
The victim was described as a 25-year-old man from Troy who is in stable condition after being struck twice in the arm, officials said during a media briefing. The shooter was allegedly a coworker known to the victim, and the victim was able to identify him to the police.

A massive police presence from two nearby counties could be seen outside the hospital, a live look at the scene by FOX 2 Detroit showed. Michigan State Police also assisted, the agency said on X.
The suspect, who has not yet been publicly identified, was taken into custody about two and a half hours after the shooting.

“We are working with local law enforcement,” Corewell Health said in a statement.
“Out of an abundance of caution, the hospital is on lockdown. One victim is in the emergency department for medical treatment. Patients with services scheduled should not come to the hospital at this time. Patients may call the department where they were scheduled for service directly. No other information is available at this time,” it concluded.
Staffers at the hospital were instructed to “run, hide, fight,” following the incident, FOX 2 reported.
The hospital is about a 30-minute drive from downtown Detroit.
