Miami firefighters were seen climbing into the cockpit of the Amazon cargo jet that crashed, killing five – moments after being heard on dispatch shouting “The plane is on fire” as they raced to the scene.
The jumbo Boeing 767 freighter, which left Puerto Rico just before 11:45 a.m. local time Sunday, eventually came to a stop after overshooting the runway at Miami International Airport, striking several cars and killing five people.
Miami Dade Fire and Rescue crews raced to the scene – with the first units arriving within 30 seconds of the call being placed.
