One of the more popular items at Trader Joe’s is being recalled due to metal fragments found in multiple bread products.

The recall by the US Food and Drug Administration is for a variety of bread items, including a Trader Joe’s brand Focaccia Bread, which is sold in most of their stores across the country.

It comes after metal pieces were found in the bread, per the USDA recall.

“The firm discovered metal fragments in various bread products. They determined the cause to be roasted tomatoes provided by one of their ingredient suppliers.”

The Trader Joe’s package is labeled “TRADER JOE’S Focaccia Bread Roasted Tomato & Parmesan.” It comes in a 14 oz package.

Per the notice, the affected items had been used by dates ranging from 5/1/2026 all the way to 10/15/2026.

Shoppers are urged to throw away the product if they bought one or return it to the place of purchase.

The cases of bread were sold across 10 states, including California, Arizona, Florida, North Carolina, New Jersey, Texas, and Virginia.

A total of 23,459 cases of the bread goods were involved in the recall.

The news comes amid a handful of other Trader Joe’s recalls as of late.

On February 19, Trader Joe’s popular chicken fried rice was recalled after shards of glass were discovered inside the packaging.

More than 3.3 million pounds of the product, sold under Trader Joe’s and Ajinomoto brands, were voluntarily recalled after customers reported the frightening find.

The Trader Joe’s-branded item was shipped to its stores across the United States, while the Ajinomoto-labeled product was shipped only to Canada.

The Trader Joe’s package is labeled “TRADER JOE’S Chicken Fried Rice with stir-fried rice, vegetables, seasoned dark chicken meat and eggs” and it comes in 20-ounce plastic bags. The “best by” dates are from Sept. 8, 2026 to Nov. 17, 2026.

Last month, the brand announced “out of abundance of caution” it was recalling more Trader Joe’s frozen products by Ajinomoto Foods North America Inc “because of the potential that they may be contaminated with foreign material—specifically, glass,” per the website.

The affected items included:

  • Chicken Fried Rice- Best By Dates 03/04/2026 through 02/10/2027
  • Vegetable Fried Rice- Best By Dates 02/28/2026 through 11/19/2026
  • Japanese Style Fried Rice- Best By Dates 02/28/2026 through 11/14/2026
  • Chicken Shu Mai – Best By Dates 03/13/2026 through 10/23/2026

Ajinomoto Foods North America Inc. recalled another 9,885,240 pounds of Trader Joe’s Vegetable Fried Rice after slivers of glass were found in the one-pound meals.

The massive recall of nearly 10 millions of pounds of the product was added to the earlier recall, according to the FDA advisory.

The shards of glass ranged from 1 to 3 cm long and 2 to 4 mm wide.

According to the recall information, luckily no one has suffered any injures related to the glass shards or metal pieces found in the food products.
