Matthew McConaughey may be coming to a city near you!
McConaughey, 55, announced on Wednesday, July 30, that he will be hitting the road for a limited five-city book tour after the September 16 release of his new book, Poems & Prayers.
The Academy Award–winning actor’s new book is a “deeply personal” follow up to his 2020 memoir, Greenlights.
“The ‘Poems & Prayers Revival Tour’ will blend heartfelt dialogue with spoken word performances, music, and unexpected moments of connection,” a press release stated.
McConaughey will begin the tour in Brooklyn on September 16, with stops following in Nashville, Tulsa and Los Angeles. The tour will conclude in his homebase of Austin, Texas, on September 21.
The new book will feature writing influenced by biblical scriptures from Proverbs and the Old Testament. A press release describes the work as including “daydreams in shady south-of-the-border hammocks and in Australian bathtubs with Lord Byron, nightmares we can’t outrun, 400,000 miles traveled in an Airstream, the gifts of guilty stress, a court appearance to restrain a stalker, Matthew’s desire to be the best friend, husband, father and man he can be, and more.”
Tickets for the tour can be purchased at PoemsPrayers.com, and each ticket includes a copy of the book.
“Filled with faith-driven reflections, raw honesty and moments of humor that explore what it means to live, love, and believe, Poems & Prayers is more than a book,” McConaughey said. “It’s a memory — a place where we can rediscover what we’ve lost, celebrate what remains and maybe even leave behind what no longer serves us.”
