A defense attorney for the Massachusetts mother accused of killing her two young children before fleeing to Vermont stunningly requested that his client be freed and the case be dismissed on Thursday.
Janette MacAusland’s attorney, Joseph Krowski, argued to a judge that there wasn’t enough information to keep his client behind bars – despite the Wellesley mom allegedly admitting to a family member that she killed her two young children and tried to take her own life back in May, according to court records and WCVB.
Prosecutors told the Dedham District Court judge that they were still waiting for the medical examiner’s office to determine the official manners of death for MacAusland’s children, 7-year-old Kai and 6-year-old Ella.
The judge denied Krowski’s requests and ordered that MacAusland, 49, remain behind bars without bail on two charges of first-degree murder.
Krowski and the Norfolk County District Attorney’s Office didn’t immediately respond to requests for comment.
