Margaret Josephs is saddened to hear about the ongoing tax issues surrounding her The Real Housewives of New Jersey costar Teresa Giudice.

“It’s very sad. I never wish ill on anybody,” Josephs, 58, exclusively told Us Weekly at Us + Maidenform’s Reality Star Style Awards party on Tuesday, April 22, at The Highlight Room in New York City. “I don’t want anything bad for Teresa ever.”

She added, “I never want anything bad to happen to her, and that’s why I always spoke up.”

News broke in March that Giudice, 52, and her husband, Luis “Louie” Ruelas, received more than $3 million in tax liens on the mansion they bought in 2021. In court documents obtained by Us, Guidice and Ruelas, 50, owe $2.5 million and $303,000, respectively. A third debt, meanwhile, has since been settled. Weeks later, Ruelas also filed for a mortgage modification request to extend the $1 million loan on the property.

While neither Giudice nor Ruelas has addressed the alleged legal battle, the Bravo star’s daughter Gia denied they were experiencing any lingering financial issues. (Teresa shares four daughters with ex-husband Joe Guidice.)

“My mom has been the sole provider for my sisters and I since the minute my father left for prison,” Gia, 21, said on the March 31 episode of her “Casual Chaos” podcast. “She has been working her a** off to make sure that my sisters and I live a stable life and that my family is financially stable. Like, I can’t stress enough how much my mom has worked. Everything will be resolved.”

She added, “My mom has everything under control, and there’s nothing to worry about. My stepdad, Luis, is the most amazing stepfather. He treats my sisters and I like we are his own. He is also working on getting everything resolved, as well. But there’s nothing to worry about. Everything’s going to be fine. But, thank you for your concern.”

Josephs, meanwhile, stressed on Tuesday that Teresa and Ruelas’ tax trouble was “unfortunate.” However, she did feel “vindicated” in the wake of the news, given their drama on the last seasons of RHONJ. (The two Housewives have been at odds for several years, with Josephs making unfounded claims about Ruelas’ intentions before marrying Teresa.)

“I feel vindicated. The fact is, everybody always said that ‘Marge wants to do something mean, wants to hurt somebody.’ No, Marge is actually protective and wants to say the truth and can sniff out something that’s not great,” she told Us. “I think I’m brutally honest, and I think people have a hard time receiving those things. No one wants to deliver unsavory news or no one wants to hear the hard truth. … I never want to hurt somebody purposely. I don’t want bad things to happen to anyone. And when they do, I feel sad.”
