A maniac bashed a Queens straphanger in the head with the butt of a knife after an early Monday outburst on the train, cops and sources said.
The 38-year-old victim was riding a southbound 7 train approaching the 69th Street station in Woodside around 1:40 a.m. when he spotted the menace yelling and “acting erratically” near him, according to authorities and sources.
Then the crazed suspect struck the straphanger in the head with the butt of his knife, police said.
The injured rider was able to get off at the next stop — 61st Street — while the unhinged aggressor remained on the train, cops said.
The spurt of violence left the victim with a cut on his head. He was taken to the Elmhurst Hospital Center, where he was listed in stable condition, according to police.
The suspect was still on the loose as of Monday evening.
