Love Island USA’s Pepe Garcia and Iris Kendall have called it quits.
“We’re not together anymore and it’s just the way it goes,” Pepe revealed in a Thursday, August 28, interview with TMZ. “It’s a tough thing when there’s a lot of eyes on you 24/7. It’s stressful. Being in the limelight isn’t always the best thing in the world.”
Pepe, 27, added that the support of his loved ones have helped him.
“I like to say, my friends and family and the people that support me, they know who I am as a person,” he said. “And that’s honestly the biggest and most important thing for me.”
When asked if the rumors circulating online that he had been unfaithful were true, Pepe denied the allegations, reiterating that he only cares about what his “friends and family think.”
“You win some, you lose some,” he reflected. “You’re not gonna win and you’re not always gonna be right in everyone’s opinion. Everybody’s got their opinion.”
Pepe also shared that he’s not focused about moving on or looking at the messages in his DMs at this time.
“Right now, it’s just focusing on the present,” he said. “Focusing on the next steps, the next opportunities and the next things I wanna do.”
Us Weekly has reached out to Iris for comment.
Iris, 25, and Pepe met on Love Island USA season 7 which aired earlier this year. While the pair ultimately came in fourth place, they decided to pursue their connection outside the villa.
“If I’m talking to someone seriously, I’m talking to them and I don’t want to talk to somebody else,” Pepe told Us exclusively in July 2025. “[Iris] is a beautiful and unbelievably amazing woman, so it would be dumb of me not to try to see this to the end and see what can actually happen with us.”
The pair were seemingly still together when they filmed the season 7 reunion in early August. However, they sparked breakup speculation weeks later when eagle-eyed fans noticed just days before the reunion aired.
Iris and Pepe are not the only couple from season 7 to call it quits. Earlier this week, winners Amaya Espinal and Bryan Arenales also confirmed their split.
“Bryan and I are no longer together,” Amaya wrote in a statement shared via her Instagram Stories on Wednesday, August 27. “After leaving the villa, it became very clear that we were on two different journeys.”
Bryan, for his part, echoed similar sentiments in his own statement.
“Amaya and I have decided to go our separate ways,” Bryan wrote via his Instagram Stories on Wednesday. “Unfortunately, we were not on the same page, and that is OK. We both gained clarity that we are on different paths right now. I am thankful for the time we have spent together, and I wish her nothing but the best moving forward.”
